The project also involves reclaiming three (3) refuse piles; backfilling eight (8) sinkholes and/or shafts; backfilling a mine entry which has artesian flow of acid mine drainage (AMD); and passively treating the AMD with limestone.
Trough Creek Watershed Association
The goal of the Trough Creek Watershed Assoc. is to restore and preserve a safe water supply, to provide a safe natural environment for people, plants and animals. We hope to restore the water in Trough Creek to again supply the clean drinking water, sportsman activities and recreational activities that were once present.

Trough Creek Watershed Assoc. is a nongovernmental, volunteer organization formed by concerned citizens to address the problems of acid mine drainage, water quality and quantity, storm water runoff and the need for funding of natural resources improvement projects.

Trough Creek starts at its headwaters in Wood, Pa continues down near Cassville, Pa. where it makes a sharp left. It continues, then intersects with Little Trough Creek. It again turns left until it reaches Todd where it turns right, passes through Trough Creek State Park and into Raystown Lake

We hope that the lost beauty of this area can be restored and the streams can again come to life with wildlife and fish. Ice skating on the pond will again be a reality and not something parents tell their childern about.

The Trough Creek Watershed Assoc. is governed by an elected five member Executive Board and the general membership.

Luciana Bottoms West - Abandoned Mine Reclamation Project (Rocky Ridge)
updated 10/7/05
The Alvan project is still in the BAMR engineering phase but things are happening in that area also. Some engineering studies have been accomplished and hopefully we are looking design completion in the fall and bids in late 2006.

We did substain considerable damage on the roads leading to the WBTW resorvoir but most of the damage has been repaired. Thanks to FEMA and Pema most of the expense for the repairs were covered.

We found a section of  the old #9 mine cover  had collapsed into the mine. This is a very dangerous sitution and we are looking to BAMR and Land owner for help in securing this area. This was fixed by an indepentent contractor.
This area has again collapsed and BAMR will start working on it this summer (2006)

The Baker run project has been completed and sizeable project to reclaim and reroute the stream has been completed.
