We had our honeymoon in Japan. After a 14 hour flight with one layover, we finally made it to the other side of the world. Let me tell you that Japan's metropolitan areas are no joke; it's really busy with waves of people going everywhere fast. Luckily, our Japanese friends took us around and showed us the sites. We even stayed with them in their small but comfortable home. In the metropolitan areas like downtown, there are plenty of cars and tons of people. However in the suburbs, most people walk, ride bikes or mopeds. Our friends lived in a cozy suburb, so we walked alot. We frequented the open store fronts of shops that lined the market street for a good mile. If you want to get anywhere far, it's the train you take. After a while, we got sick of all that walking and train hopping. So we rented a car. Our friends took us into the mountains, traveling through tunnels dug into the mountain sides. After what seemed like ages, we were pleasantly greeted by the stoic struture of a castle. It has now been converted into a museum of sorts, but pictures were strictly forbidden inside the castle itself. We went inside and marveled at the arts, weapons, armor, and history. Then we walked the castle grounds, from the gardens to the palace bridge. Of course we went to their Chinatown and shopped around. It was so cool. There are more pix I've gotta scan and more I've gotta tell. |
