Baby Beauty Contest
back
My wife entered our children into a local baby beauty contest being held at our mall. From what I can gather, it's actually a contest involving different regions held at malls to find winners who would then compete in a state competition and move on to the nationals... I wasn't too clear on all the details but that's pretty much it.
  Here's the thing: They won!
Since the contest is divided into different catagories based on sex and age, my children were able to compete amongst their peers. Our daughter brought home first place as the most beautiful baby girl, plus another award for being the most angelic. Our son took runner up as the most beautiful baby boy.
Although we entered them without any expectations, except to just have fun, it was such a thrill to us all. As a proud father, I carried my bragging rights everywhere I go.
As part of her prize, our little girl had recieved a free photography session as well. So we took her to Chicago, where the studio is, to her first photo shoot. It didn't go too well, but we're still proud of our kids. Next year, I think we'll re-enter them in another competition.
Her free photo session was in Chicago, so we took a trip there. The photographer does commercial prints of children for well-known companies and magazines. It sounded good. The only thing was that as a one year old girl, she did not have the patience to do a shoot. It was past her nap time and because of the long wait at the studio, she also missed her feeding. It was not a happy moment for her. She cried for most of the shoot, only to be worsen by the photographer's lack of heart. Although he obviously have worked with children, I doubt he had much experience with children as young as our girl, because is addittude was vile and demeaning. It took all I had to maintain my composure, he made me so mad.
