When I was six years old, my family moved us to the United States. Chinatown Chicago. There we lived for about two years. Going back to Chicago was nostalgic. It's been 16 years, and my memory's a bit clouded. Although I remember certain buildings and places during my visit. It's a relatively big place, with street signs in Chinese. As a matter of fact, when I first moved to the States, I didn't even know we were out of our country (Taiwan). Chicago's Chinatown isn't extremely big, but it covers a nice large area. Unlike Cleveland's Chinatown, which is really one street and a few restaurants. If you didn't catch the tiny street sign claiming it to be Chinatown, you'd pass through it without even knowing. That is how small it is in Cleveland. Being Chinese, I felt right at home, but my wife told me later that she felt out of place amongst all the Asian people there. I told her, now you know how I feel. *wink* |
