The East Hazel Crest Fire Departent prays for the innocent people in New York and Washington D.C on September 11th 2001 and the missing brave men and women of FDNY
As word of the tragedy spread through out America. People gathered in front of the warm flickering glow of the T.V. To watch the horror unfold as 2 land marks, which stood 110 stories high come crashing down. No matter the sex, age, color or religious beliefs they all felt that same thing "Oh my God this is not happening!" It was happening just like out of the summer action block buster the World Trade Centers came crashing down.
It wasn’t to long ago when we sat in the theater and watch the movie Independence Day with Will Smith. We cheered as the aliens blew apart New York City. Now we sit in shock as it really happened. In front of our eyes, live on T.V
Ash covered citizens ran for their lives, some on cell phones trying to contact their loved ones letting them know that they made it out. Some stood covered in the same ash, only this time calling their loved ones trying to find out if the made it out.
Through out the puffs of smoke and the flames of sadness, there was a silhouette of a beautiful lady. A lady who has the strength of many men.
Through out the screams of panic and fear, there stood a lady a brave one at that.
Through out the apocalypse we were witnessing the same lady stood.
Through out the smoke, ash, destruction, and sheer chaos there stood Lady Liberty our symbol of freedom. Our symbol that this is the land of the free and home of the brave.
Let us not forget those who lost their lives. Lets not forget those who risked their lives for the the lives of complete strangers on the day of Sept. 11th 2001.
