MAY 2006 ARTICLE IN LOCAL NEWSPAPER

New Eastport marine business opens doors
By Susan Esposito

A new business in Eastport is offering marine service,
inside and outside storage and marina facilities, as well
as a workshop facility for the "do it yourself" boat owner.
Located at Harris Cove, Easternmost Marine offers
well- protected anchorage and limited dockside berthing.
Owner Daniel Morehouse says, "Whether it is a sailing vessel, pleasure craft or commercial workboat,
Easternmost Marine can accomplish almost every task."

Morehouse points out, "We provide near six feet of draft
at dockside and up to 15 within the cove; over 25 feet of draft for mooring just at cove's end, yet still in protected water. There is easy access to seawall area and plenty
of room for tender berthing."

"No idea is far-fetched for us," says Easternmost Marine's owner."Nothing too large or too small."
Although he just became a new business owner,
Morehouse is already looking ahead into ways
to help the local economy. His plans are to
organize nautical events "which would
support Eastport tourism and be possibly
a further enrichment of the summer
season festivals."

Morehouse says he was enjoying retirement
when he got the urge to live Downeast.
Research led him to Eastport and the
Harris Cove facility, which was for sale.
Arriving on a very windy spring day,
he knew he was exactly where he
wanted to be.
DreamChaser Introduction
Morehouse, a Florida native who grew up in
New Hampshire, recalls that his first paying job was
as a driver of the Miss Winnipesaukee Chris Craft
speedsters. Later, he worked aboard various
fishing boats in Bar Harbor before he was lured into
working as a delivery skipper of large sailing yachts
in the Pacific.

In the mid-80s, Morehouse managed the Minneford
Yacht Yard in New York and developed his own
marina complex in City Island and Newburg on the
Hudson River. After retiring at age 50, he enjoyed
sailing his racing sloop, purchased and renovated
an 88-ton coastal shrimper and sailed his 62' ketch,
complete with two deck cannons, throughout
the Caribbean.

If you check what is flying beneath the American
flag outside of Easternmost Marine, you will
                                see the tattered remnants of
                                  his personal ensign-
                                   a Caribbean pirate flag
                                     which has weathered five
                                      hurricanes aboard his
                                       various vessels. And the
                                        fellow wearing a cowboy hat
                                           or Bubba Gump baseball
                                              cap will be the owner.
