NVIDIA
have released a new family of graphic processors - the GeForce4. These
new chips are said to be 4-times faster then previous GeForce chips, and
incorporate some new exciting technologies:
- Accuview Antialiasing
New and innovative AA technology provides the best visual quality possible
without a performance hit.
- nView Display Technology
New display technology provides the ultimate in multidisplay
flexibility and user control.
- Lightspeed Memory
Architecture (LMA) II to improve memory performance, together with 128bit-DDR
memory, and memory enhancement technologies. Optimized memory caches,
such as Quad Cache, allow instant rendering pipeline access, which can
be reused and refreshed instantaneously.
The new GeForce4 family
includes:
- GeForce4 Ti
4600, 4400 and 4200 These are the high-end versions chips.
With its advanced nfiniteFXÔ Engine, superior Accuview Antialiasing
techniques, and flexible nView multidisplay technology, the GeForce4
Ti GPU allows end users to experience radically immersive graphical
environments, complete with unique visual effects and the most realistic,
life-like images ever.
- GeForce4 MX
460, 440 and 420 These are the 'cutback' versions of the
above chips, with less performance, but higher value, targeting the
mainstream market. They incorporate NVIDIAs innovative nView multidisplay
technology, Lightspeed Memory Architecture (LMA) II and advanced
Accuview Antialiasing techniques.
- GeForce4 440
Go and 420 Go The mobile GeForce4 GPUs integrate innovative
power management techniques for unsurpassed battery life, a Video Processing
Engine and revolutionary antialiasing technology for superior display
quality, and an ultra efficient memory architecture for the fastest
computing experience ever realized on a mobile PC platform.
These chips sound
excellent, and should bring a big performance & image quality gain,
especially for future released software (like games).
Computers with GeForce4
MX chips are already being shipped, and cards should be available within
2 weeks (late February). PC's with the GeForceTi chips should be available
in April, and graphic cards should be out in March.
