The eaglet in this picture is only a couple of days old. (The grey fuzz ball behind the broken stick) One parent is always on or near the nest to protect the eaglet from scavengers.

Eaglet approximately 1 week old

By two weeks of age the eaglet will weigh approximately 2 pounds and will gain about  4 ounces a day or more for the next couple of weeks. Their down will start getting a darker coat growing underneath  it.
