2001 Jacksonville Jaguars

Training Camp at Farrell Field

It was just five days until the first pre-season game at Alltel Stadium when we looked in on how "Camp Coughlin" was going. The Jaguars are the National Football League's only team to prepare for the coming season at home. Coach Tom Coughlin summed up the reason for this in just one word: "heat."

The temperature was in the mid-80's and the sun was shining. There was a forecast for afternoon thundershowers, so all the Jaguars were working hard to get in a good practice. The newcomers were working to find a spot on the roster and the veterans were thinking of timing and how they would work with all the new faces soon to be team members.

While star quarterback Mark Brunell (top picture) was taking snaps and hoping the new names in his offense would find their games clicking, on the offensive line Tony Boselli (picture just above)was just looking for the defense.

The morning session had begun with exercises (above) and would conclude with an on-field meeting with Coach Coughlin. (below)

The entry way to Farrell Field provided a small shop to purchase souvenirs and arm one's self with all the proper t-shirts, hats, banners, etc. for the coming season of ten games--two pre-season and eight regular--at Alltel Stadium. For a look around the shop click here.
