The story of a young Duo Maxwell is quite sad. He grew up as an orphan on
the streets of the L2 Space Colony. The young boy had no name, no place to
stay, and had to make a living by stealing. Quite often, the long haired
youngster could be seen running with shouts of "Hey, little girl! Stop!" He
always used the fact that his appearence was feminine to his advantage, because people tended to trust girls more than boys.
Eventually, he became tied up with a gang of other homeless kids--most
being teenagers. The leader of the gang, a sixteen year old named Solo, took an almost instant liking to the young boy. After almost a year with the gang, a
virus broke out on L2. The virus was leathal, and the cure was not cheap. The
gang stole a supply of the cure, but by that time, it was already too late to
save Solo. Solo passed away after telling his friend that he would always live
inside their hearts. It was then that the young boy opted to call himself Duo,
in memory of Solo. Even though Duo didn't get enough of the cure to save
himself, he had some sort of natural immunity and never contracted the virus.
It wasm't under much later, after the remnants of the virus had been
cleared up, that Duo found himself at the Maxwell Church--which is where he
took his last name from. After being constantly nagged by Sister Helen to cut
his hair, the two made a deal, and Duo began to wear it in a braid. One day,
while walking back to the Church, Duo was cornered by a group of soldiers. They tried to force Duo to have some "fun" with them. After managing to break away,
Duo took quite a while to get back. When he was a few blocks away, he stood
witness as the Church exploded. He rushed forward, to find Sister Helen amongst the rubble. She passed away in front of his eyes, after telling him how glad
she was that he was okay.
The child know known as Duo Maxwell wandered the streets of L2 once more.
And eventually, he was found by oen of the five scientists. The scientist told
Duo that he was the one. He was taken in, cared for, and trained. The first
time he hoped into the cockpit the Gundam Deathscythe, a gleam came to his eye
as he named himself Shinigami--The God of Death--and from then on, it would be
he who decided who died and when it happened. Duo was then sent to Earth inside of Deathscythe as part of Operation Meteor--although with one big problem. The
scientist had changed the original orders the pilot was supposed to have
recieved . . . |
