SPACE DUST NOW
(continued from over here)

Oct. '02 - we played last month (the 11th specif., Christine's birthday party at Arc in Dunedin), for the 1st time in like 4-EVA...it was pretty good...George Gosset made a video of it that I hope he will put up on the www somewhere some time. The lineup was : Violet (singing), Mick Elborado (gtr), Lisa Preston (bass), me (drums). Don't call it a comeback! The Brother wasn't in it 'cause we didn't know where he was, didn't find his address until a few days before the show...I wrote to him & told him "hey Space Dust was real good without you!" & he writ back saying "yeah well imagine how good it'd be without you!"

March '03 - most recent manifestation described here. (it went down at Arc same as the last one, the lineup was supposed to be as per the last show, except + Matt Middleton on clarinet / Lisa playing the Electone organ / no bass guitar @ all, bass parts to be done by L. with the bass end of the keyboard...that was the plan & that's how it went EXCEPT we found out at the last min. that, OH NO Borrado couldn't make it so ok we decided ok we could just play with NO GUITAR (we got clarinet, we got organ), but then - at the last minute - & see THIS was the REAL last min. this time, & the LAST last min. where we had previously discovered that Mick was not gonna show was now in fact revealed to be merely the PENULTIMATE min.,-- anyway, at the LAST MINUTE! we roped in our buddy Lynton - or vice v., he sort of roped us in - to play guitar...that worked pretty well, he's never played w/ the Dust before but he's jammed with me & Lisa lots & he's gots y'know "tha vibe" son....Lynton Denovan former drummer of the best lineup of Tony Valens & the Incisions who as it happened were thee headlining act of this evening (last lineup (they've broke up now) not the hi rise rumble gang w/ L. & Dan Brady but still pretty good (better than the other time i saw em (N.Yr's Eve/WunderBar), certainly), Lynton also the evil mix genius of Radio Lyttelton's sadly defunct what was that show called, the one with the sound library records & the effects pedals & the 1 dedicated fan with the binoculars who could see into the studio from her flat, our rock'n'roll good buddy Lynton D., his record speaks for itself!)

5th June '03 - we're playing tomorrow night at the Wunderbar in Lyttelton, we just had a practice for it & it was sounding pretty good. Lineup : me, Violet, Mick, Lisa (Yamaha Electone), & for the 1st time in I dunno I think 5 YEARS John Chrisstoffels on bass!
Doesn't look like Matt Middleton is gonna make it but anyway, still, that's a classic lineup right there. It's the 1st time we've played Chch/Lyttelton for longer than I can remember too, gee I hope they still like us in this town!    (more set list)

2nd July '04 - holy shit it's really been that long? i didn't miss one out somewhere? no i don't think i did. anyway : another wunderbar show at the wunderbar, lineup same as last time except + matt middleton (clarinet & sax), w/ the shocking pinks...real good (i thought)

14th August '04 - Refuel, Dunedin, supporting the Brunettes - tentative debut of new experimental lineup - we only played 2 songs (not very good version of "Good Manners"/good version of "Don't Scare Me") due to lack of preparation - personnel was Violet (the usual), me (the usual), Matt M. (bass, synth, clarinet), Clayton Noone (guitar), George Gosset (synth). It was OK, next time will be better.

20th May '05 - i told you next time would be better? it was. new lineup : me & violet as per usual, matt m. on synth & clarinet, jason ISO12 bass, emma milburn guitar. the other band was THE PUDDLE who as you know are 1 of my favourite bands & apart from some technical & psychological difficulties it was a great gig. we even did some new songs (yeah about time).
