Peter Forsberg was a Rink Rat in this game, setting up tuns scoring chances and creating havoc all over the ice for the Dallas Stars.

Dallas played better, but did worse.

Peter Forsberg had a goal and an assist, lifting the Avalanche to a 5-2 victory over the Stars on Friday night in Denver.Dallas wanted to play better against Forsberg, Alex Tanguay and Milan Hejduk after the three scored two goals in Colorado's 3-1 victory in Game 1.

But some how, it got worse.Forsberg and Tanguay scored for the second straight game and both had an assist each, and Hejduk added two assists to put Colorado up 2-0 in the best-of-seven-series.

Joe Sakic scored for the second straight game, forward Dan Hinote added a goal, and Steve Konowalchuk sealed the lead nice and tight with a power-play goal early in the third period.

The Stars have realy struggled on the road all season, the playoffs have not been any easier.

Dallas also gave up a short-handed goal and allowed the Avalanche to go 3-for-9 on the power play after they scored one goal in 27 previous chances.At least Game 3 is Monday in Dallas, where the Stars were 26-7-8 this season.Dallas took its first lead in the series on Captian Modano's power-play goal 8 minutes into Game 2.But the lead did not last to long.Sakic tied it on a power play just 1:03 later.

The crowd were mad late in the first period when Tanguay was called for a penalty after slipping into Stars netminder Marty Turco along the sideboards.

But Colorado was able to kill off the penalty.Dallas was called for too many men on the ice at the end of the power play, and Tanguay took advantage by tipping Blake's shot from near the blue line to put the Avalanche up 2-1 with 2.8 seconds left.Colorado's Teemu Selanne slashed Steve Ott on the back of the legs after the horn sounded, but the officials didn't see it. Dallas forward Bill Guerin did.

He went after Selanne and had to be restrained as he skated toward one of the officials.Forsberg scored 6:48 in on a centering pass that blisterd past Turco off the skate of Dallas defenseman Richard Matvichuk.The next goal, a short-hander by Hinote, came six minutes later after Andrei Nikolishin whiffed on a shot, and Turco swiped it back toward his net.

Therien made it 4-2 late in the period on a one-timer from the slot after no one picked him up, but Konowalchuk answered three minutes into the third by redirecting a shot from Blake.
