HARDISON
AND
PERRY
FAMILY OF
MARTIN COUNTY
NORTH CAROLINA
The Hardison and Perry Families were among the first settlers of Martin County, North Carolina.  They traveled across the Atlantic Ocean and up the shallow sounds of Coastal Carolina. They continued their journey up the rivers and creeks into the thick pine forest.  They came inland following Indian paths.  They built roads, churches, schools and  homes. These brave souls carved a life out of this new world.
The Hardisons of Martin County, NC descend from Jasper Hardison. Jasper died in what is now Martin County in 1733. The names of Jasper and Mary Hardison's children are known from his will .  His will is located at the NC State Archives.
I descend from Joseph and Mary Ann Collins Hardison. Joseph was the youngest son of Jasper. I also descend from James Hardison, who was born in 1790. I do not know the name of James Hardison's father. I am sure that James is the great grandson of "ole Jasper" but I do not have definitive proof as to how. My research has lead me to believe that James is the son of John Hardison Jr. and the grandson of John Hardison.  More research is needed to confirm my opinion.
