COLD CASE WEB SITE TO HELP SOLVE HOMICIDE CASES

GLENDALE, Ariz.Internet users can review “cold cases” being investigated by Glendale Police at a newly revamped web site dedicated to solving cold case crimes.

The Glendale Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is asking the public for assistance in solving homicides, which are now considered “cold case” investigations.  The term “cold case” refers to any criminal investigation in which all known leads have been investigated and evidence is being re-examined to determine if further scientific analysis is necessary.

The web site includes pictures, case numbers and a description, as well as the option to submit a tip online.  “We rely on the input from citizens who could provide detectives with a new approach or piece of information, and the web site is the best tool to target a wide-spread audience,” said Detective Roger Geisler with Glendale Police.  Important phone numbers and information web sites can be found under the cold case site. Silent Witness is also available to take information about these cases.

“This site helps the families not only keep the memory alive, but also serves as a vital resource in the investigation,” said Deb Lueth, mother of Jennifer Lueth, a cold case victim. “It is a personal connection between the victims and the people in the area at the time of the crime.”

Glendale 911 on Glendale 11 is also featuring the cold case web site resource in an upcoming show.  For more information, visit www.glendaleaz.com/police/coldcaseinformation or www.silentwitness.org
