Chapter 25: "I Want You, I Need You, Oh Baby, Oh Baby"
**The fonts in Microsoft Word were so much cooler...but oh well**
Anna- (stuttering) I…uh…um…no…?
Man- (pulling off his sunglasses and rolling his eyes) Yes you are.
Anna- Frankie?
Frankie- (sarcastically, smiling) No, Carmen Sandiego.
Anna- (crossing her arms) Well if you’re Frankie, you’d better leave.
Frankie- (sitting down next to her) Why? Anna…I know what happened yesterday was-
Anna- Let me guess…a big misunderstanding?
Frankie- (nodding, satisfied) Well yes, actually.
Anna- I’m not buying it. You made out with Amy!
Frankie- Yeah…well, you made out with Greg!
Anna- That wasn’t my doing.
Frankie- Well making out with Amy wasn’t my doing. It couldn’t have been…
Anna- (sighing sadly) Frankie, seeing you kissing another girl- one of my best friends at that- was too much for me. My heart has been broken…there’s no way I can forgive you now. I’m sorry…
Anna notices her mom’s car pull up in front of the hotel.
Anna- (picking up her bags) I have to go.
Frankie- (standing up and following her towards the door) Anna, wait, please-
Anna- I’m sorry. Goodbye, Frankie.
And with that, Anna walks out the door and hops into her car. Frankie watches sadly as it pulls away.

A few weeks later, school is well back in session, and the girls are fine with each other, but not fully over what happened.
On a rainy Tuesday afternoon, Anna arrives home from school and brings in the mail. Once inside, she notices a large, white envelope addressed to her.
Anna- Hmm…that’s weird. Who sends this mail these days?
She shrugs, before carefully opening the letter. She reads it outloud…
Anna,
I know you probably still hate me…and I understand fully. But I haven’t forgotten about you- I never will…I can’t. I think about you all the time…and it upsets me that we aren’t together. I have written you a poem, maybe it will better explain how I feel…
       “Please don’t say good-bye
We can keep our dream alive
        If we try…”
Anna- (puzzled) That’s an interesting poem. What is it, haiku? (She shrugs at her own question, before reading on)
Kind of a confusing poem…well, it isn’t exactly a poem…But what I’m trying to say is that I don’t want this to be over. I want a second chance. I hope you’ll give me one. If you’re willing to talk, meet me at the Olive Garden down the street from your house at 7 on Tuesday night. I’ll be waiting…
                                                                                                                                   Love always,
                                                                                                                                           Frankie J. Galasso
Anna- (slowly folding the letter back up) That’s tonight…

***

At 6:55, Anna steps out of her house and begins walking toward the Olive Garden. She had been getting ready since she read the letter.
It drizzles lightly overhead. As she steps into the restaurant, she sees one lonely person sitting at a booth, his back to her. She creeps up behind him, and covers his eyes with her hands.
Anna- Guess who?
Frankie- (smiling) Anna?
Anna- (taking her hands off) That’s right…how’d you know?
Frankie turns around. His smile gets bigger when he looks at Anna. Not knowing what to do, he gives her a big hug.
Anna hugs him back, before letting go and sitting down in the booth.
Anna- So, you wanted to talk?
Frankie- Yes. (He begins playing with the salt and pepper shakers) Anna…I’m sorry for what happened. I can’t explain it…I honestly don’t know why I was…you know…with Amy. The only person I love like that is you. That won’t ever change…and that’s why I wrote you that letter and asked you to meet me here, because I can’t stand being alone, and-
Anna- (standing up) Say no more…
She grabs him by the hand and kisses him…and before long, the two are making out.
A waiter comes over to take their order.
Waiter- Uh…sir? Ma’am?
He shrugs before walking off.

The next day, Meagan walks out of her house and over to her newly repaired car to head to school.
When she opens the door, she notices an envelope on the dashboard with her name on it.
Meagan- (sitting down and grabbing the envelope) If mom left me a love letter, I will freak…
She opens it quickly and reads the note outloud…
Meagan,
Hey. I know you really hate me…kind of like pond scum…but there’s something I have to tell you. In my mind, things are not over between us. I still love you, whether you still love me or not. I can’t begin to explain how sorry I am about what happened. I hope you understand that. If you are willing to see me again, meet me at 6:30 tonight in front of the fountain by the bank. Yeah, kind of a strange place…but I think you’ll like it. Hope to see you there…
                                                                                                                                                 Your Lost and Lonely,
                                                                                                                                                                  Matt Ballinger
Meagan- (slowly setting the letter on the seat next to her) Oh great…now I have to sit through a whole day of school…

***

That same morning, before school, Amy discovers a letter in her mailbox.
She notices her name on the outside, and squeals excitedly.
Amy- I got mail, I got mail!
She tears it open and sits on the curb, as she reads it outloud…
Bugaboo,
I know I’m the last person you want to get mail from. You must want to punch me in the face. Anyway….I am writing to you because I feel awful about what happened. Whenever I think about you, my face lights up. I get this happy feeling inside of me. A beautiful song plays in my head…then I realize you hate my guts, and it all disappears. I want to make things up to you. You’re the only girl I care about. Honestly. I will be at Chuck E. Cheese tonight at 6 (don’t ask). If you would meet me there, we could talk about this. It would mean so much to me.
                                                                                                                                Pathetically Depressed,
                                                                                                                                         Jesse McCartney
Amy- (stuffing the letter in her backpack) It’s a good thing we’re meeting at Chuck E. Cheese.

***

That night at six, Meagan and Amy arrive in the Chuck E. Cheese parking lot.
Meagan- (sinking in her seat) Oh my god…I cannot be seen at Chuck E. Cheese…
Amy- (unbuckling her seatbelt) Well…here goes nothing…
Meagan- Good luck…I have to go meet Matt now. Call me if something goes wrong. I’ll be back at nine.
Amy- Right. Bye…thanks.
Meagan- Yep.
The Diablo pulls away as Amy nervously walks into Chuck E. Cheese. She looks around, and sees Jesse sitting alone in a booth. He notices her as well, and waves her over, a big smile on his face.
Amy walks over and sits down across from him.
Jesse- I’m so glad you came…
Amy- Yeah…the skee-ball looks really tempting today. Why are we at Chuck E. Cheese?
Jesse- Oh…it’s Timmy’s birthday. This is his party. Apparently, I have to be here. Something about me being his brother…? (He shrugs) I don’t know.
Amy- I had my party here last year! Man, it was HOPPIN’…
Jesse- (raising an eyebrow) Yeah…well, I wanted to talk to you. It’s really important.
Amy- Ok. Shoot.
Jesse nods and rolls up his sleeve, reading off the inside of his arm.
Jesse- Amy…I know you must be really mad at me. I’m always doing the stupidest things. I am, by far, the worst singer in Dream Street. Not to mention, none of the fans actually like me. I am moody. Ask anybody. I am an idiot. That is me, Jesse the Fool-
Amy- Whoa whoa whoa…huh?
Jesse- (shaking his head) I’m sorry. The guys said they’d help me out with my speech…guess I should have said no…
Amy- (laughing) Yeah, I guess so! Aw, Jesse, I miss you. I really hate being mad at you.
Jesse- Really??
Amy- Yeah…I forgive you. I’m sorry I didn’t forgive you sooner.
Jesse- (smiling) It’s ok!
Jesse jumps up and sits next to Amy. He scoots over really close to her.
Jesse- Can we make out?
Amy- Why are you asking?!
She laughs as she grabs him and kisses him, right as a skee ball hits her in the head. Giggling is heard behind them.
Amy- (turning around) Alright, who did that?!

***

Meagan pulls into the empty parking lot of the bank Matt was talking about. She gets out of her car and walks over to the fountain, where Matt stands, flicking in pennies.
She runs up behind him.
Meagan- Boo!
Matt- (dropping his pennies) Ah!!!
He turns around quickly.
Matt- Oh…it’s you! (He smiles as he looks down)
Meagan laughs at him at she sits down on the edge of the fountain.
Matt- I’m really happy you came. It kinda sucks having you mad at me.
Meagan- (grabbing his hand and pulling him down next to her) And it sucks being mad at you. I’m sorry.
Matt- (smiling) There is something I have to give you.
Meagan- Oh? What’s that?
Matt continues to smile as he pulls a key out of his pocket and hands it to Meagan.
Meagan- (swooning) Aw…is it the key to your heart?
Matt- No, the bank.
Meagan- What?
Matt- I thought maybe you’d still want money for your car- that dent was enormous…

The next afternoon, Tory walks up to her front door after school and sees an envelope sticking out from under the mat.
Out of curiosity, she picks it up and discovers her name on it.
Tory- Ooh…a love letter…
She opens it and reads it in her head…
Tory,
It’s me, Chris. I know I’m not on your list of favorite people right now. But I wanted- no, I had to write you this letter. You know, to tell you how I feel. Here goes…
“I want you, I need you, oh baby, oh baby.” (Name the movie!)
Tory laughs, sitting down on the front porch.
Haha…how was that? Well, you’re probably not convinced. I will be at the mall tonight at 6:30, right outside Sunglass Hut (great place). Please meet me there- You mean the world to me.
                                                                                                                           Love always,
                                                                                                                                   Christopher Trousdale
Tory- (standing up, a smile on her face) Aw…that’s my Christopher.
She opens the front door and slams it shut behind her, running upstairs to get ready.

Melissa arrives home from school a little late, after stopping at the ice-cream shoppe.
She sees an envelope addressed to her lying on the kitchen counter, next to the other mail.
Melissa- (setting her backpack down) Sweet…a letter…
She opens it carefully, and leans against the counter to read it…
Melissa,
It’s Greg. I’m sure you’d rather not think about that name…but I think about you- a lot. I think about what my life would be like if you were still the biggest part of it. When we were going out, I was always so happy. I love you- that’s why I always came to your rescue when John kidnapped you and took you to the fire. The past few weeks have been empty. Sure, I see hundreds of girls everyday who would probably go out with me in a heartbeat- who wouldn’t? But my point is that I only want you. You’re what matters to me. I will be at Dairy Queen tonight at 6. Please come, we need to talk.
                                                                                                                                                    Yours Truly,
                                                                                                                                                           Greg Raposo
Melissa smiles to herself as she runs upstairs to get ready.

***

At six that night, Melissa arrives at Dairy Queen.
She walks into the restaurant, nervous about seeing Greg for the first time in so long. She sees the back of someone’s head in a booth. She smiles to herself as she creeps over to him., not noticing the ‘Wet Floor’ sign. Halfway to the booth, she slips and goes flying onto the tile floor. Everyone in the restaurant turns to look at her. Little kids giggle. Greg turns around and laughs. He walks over (carefully) and reaches for her hands to pull her up.
Melissa- (brushing herself off) Don’t worry, everything’s cool…
Greg smiles as he guides her to the booth and the two sit down across from each other.
Melissa- A heh…thanks for helping me up.
Greg- No problem. Ha…that was a pretty sweet spill you took there.
Melissa- Gee, thank you, Greg.
Greg laughs, looks at Melissa, and starts laughing again.
Melissa- (rolling her eyes) So…you wanted to talk?
Greg- (clearing his throat) Yes. Melissa, I’m very sorry for what happened before. It was crazy…I don’t know why I did what I did.
Melissa- Neither do I. I’m sorry too. I know I originally blamed you…but I’m just as guilty.
Greg and Melissa- I forgive you!
They laugh.
Greg- (looking around casually) Well…
Melissa- I already know what’s coming next.
Greg’s eyebrows go up and down as Melissa laughs. The two scoot together and start making out, just like old times.

At 6:27, Tory walks briskly into the mall, putting her sunglasses up on her head. She walks past a few stores before she comes to Sunglass Hut. There is Chris, modeling a pair in one of the mirrors. He doesn’t notice Tory standing behind him, watching his every move.
Chris- (putting on little red-tinted glasses) Ooh…very intellectual. (He tries on a pair of yellow-tinted ones) Wow…my IQ just went up 10 points!
Tory starts to laugh.
Chris whips around, knocking half of the sunglasses off of the turny thing.
Chris- Hi! Oh shit…
Tory laughs as she bends down to help Chris pick up the glasses.
Tory- Those yellow ones were very flattering on you.
Chris- You think so?
Tory- Oh yes, definitely. But maybe these will look better…(she places a pair of huge, black, thick-rimmed glasses on his face)
Chris looks in the mirror and gags.
Chris- (laughing) The sun will NEVER get in my eyes with these things!
The lady at the cash register looks over at the two.
Lady- Oh, sir, those are 99% off…
Chris- Oh, no, I-
Tory- Great! We’ll take them.
Chris- Huh?
Tory pulls Chris over to the register and they pay for the glasses.
Once they are out in the hall again, the two sit on a bench.
Chris- So…guess you liked the glasses?
Tory- No…but at least no one will recognize you now. We have to talk.
Chris nods and hesitantly puts on the glasses. Tory tries hard not to giggle.
Chris- So…I asked you here to apologize for my behavior before. I really am sorry.
Tory- (sighs) I know.
There is an awkward pause.
Tory- I am sorry, too, Chris. Let’s forget about that. I want you to be my boyfriend again.
Chris- REALLY?!
Chris throws his arms around Tory.
Tory- Yes…can’t breathe…
Chris lets go, still smiling. The glasses make him look like an idiot.
Tory- (laughing) So, are we all good?
Chris- You bet…oh, but not until we complete the official making up process.
Tory- Oh? I’ve never heard of that…?
Chris- Oh, it’s vastly known. I’m surprised you haven’t.
Tory- And what do we need to do?
Chris- Well…uh…
Tory- (sighing) Oh…I get it.
Chris smiles and then Tory kisses him.
