The 30-year reunion weekend has come and gone, but the wonderful memories, conversations, and connections made will live on.   Anyone who attended Friday's casual get-together at Shula's Steak 2 or Saturday's dinner/dance at the Terrace Club would probably share my feeling that this was one of the best of many terrific reunions that have been organized by the hard-working group of women on the reunion committee.

Although my name is listed as a member of that committee, I was only involved for the past several months because of the website.   The person who did probably 90% of the work is Kathy Sivak Skladany.   This is one "super" woman, who chaired the committee, handled all the mailings and reservations, made phone calls, kept track of the budget, and did a myriad of other miscellaneous jobs that needed to be done to make this a reunion to remember for all of us.   She did all of that while dealing with a mother in a nursing home, a daughter graduating from high school, and getting a house ready for sale to move into a new home that was being built in Brunswick, OH!   Oh, did I mention she also works full-time?

I always knew we had an exceptional reunion committee, but this was the first time I had the opportunity to see them in action.   I can attest to their dedication and desire to gather as many former classmates from the MHHS Class of 1970 as possible for a fun weekend that would reunite them with friends from long ago.   They have succeeded in doing that admirably at every reunion since they came together as a committee.

I think it would be a nice gesture for each of you who enjoyed this reunion, or any of our past reunions, to contact Kathy Sivak Skladany (skladany@aol.com) to express your gratitude.   Others on the committee who you might like to thank for contributing their time and talents include:   April Apana Secura, Karen Bloom Vohnout (rockhouse2@juno.com), Pat Chaye Day, Kathy Cuttaia Zarachowicz (kzarachowicz@penton.com), Linda Sawyer Tompot (thelind@aol.com), and Gayle Zallar Cieslak.   Organizing a class reunion is often a thankless job, so let's give these ladies the recognition and appreciation they deserve!

I'd like to share several ideas for get-togethers, in addition to our 5-year reunions, that came up during the reunion weekend.   Many of us have grown children, so we are planning more adult-oriented activities for ourselves.   Different people mentioned these ideas at various times, so if there is any interest among our classmates to form committees to plan them and invite others to participate, they just may happen.

Perhaps there is a travel agent among our classmates who'd like to organize some of the trips suggested.   Contact me by e-mail (prunevitch@aol.com) or by phone (440-234-9277) if you'd like to be on such a committee or would like to participate in any of the following activities:

1.   Getaway Weekend for class members to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities together in a resort-type atmosphere.

2.   Cruise Trip for the MHHS Class of 1970 or for any MHHS graduates, to try to get enough people to participate in a group trip.   (Rick Rericha was the first to mention this to me at Shula's on Friday night, but several other classmates also brought it up.)

3.   Trip To Indians Spring Training in Winter Haven, FL.

4.   Golf Outing.

5.  Attend Sports Events as a group (Browns, Indians, Cavs, etc.)   Does anyone in our class have connections for purchasing group tickets?

The reunion was great, it was nice to see everyone again and have the opportunity to talk over the past (I don't want to say OLD) times.   The music was great, the DJ did a wonderful job and the committee deserves a great big thanks for always working so hard to make these events a good time.    Looking forward to the next reunion.   I think the web site is also a great idea so we can keep informed and have the ability to keep in touch with others throughout the coming years.
