Geometry
1st Quarter Project:
STRING ART
                 What does Mr. G want?

STEP ONE:  Choose a pattern which incorporates at least 3 geometric
   shapes in the design.

Key search words:  "string art," "curve stitching."
Look on the Internet and in books for ideas, but create an ORIGINAL
        DESIGN !!!

DEADLINE ONE:  Submit a paper drawing of the design WITH TITLE
   by Fri 21 Sep 2001.

You may use blank paper or graph paper, so long as it is legible.
If you intend to use different colors of string, then use colored pencils
        in the design plan.
Make sure that shapes are labeled.

DEADLINE TWO:  Final string art project due Mon 08 Oct 2001.
   Grading scale:
70 pts - Original String Design with Title
          10 pts - Design Plan
10 pts - Accuracy and Difficulty
10 pts - Creativity and Visual Appeal
   Specifics:
Background can be made of cardboard, wood, cork, styrofoam,
or other sturdy material, no smaller than 16" x 16".
String should be of various colors; thin string breaks easily,
thick string is hard to work with.
Other supplies - pushpins, needle, hammer and nails, compass,
             ruler, protractor, paper.
Other suggestions: if you're using wood, tie the thread to the starting
point and loop around each stop, tie off at the end. If you're
using something else, consider securing string to the backing
with tape (use tape that won't damage backing).
