ABOUT ME

My name is Dr. Karma Choeying Gyurme. I was born in Doshu, Kham(Eastern Tibet) in 1976. I live with my family, which includes four brothers and three sisters. I started learning Tibetan since I was little and at the age of 10 I entered into learning Buddhist Philosophy and Tibetan Medicine for fifteen years. The course I have studied in Tibetan Medicine is equivalent to M.B.B.S. in western medicine. My teacher was Ghulu Kunga who was one of the most famous Tibetan doctors in Tibet and he passed away in 1997. He was not only a great doctor but also a great Buddhist practitioner and a realized being. Everyone who studies with him becomes a great doctor who can help many beings because of his great compassion and his blessing. So, my intention is to help everyone through my little knowledge in my life. I arrived here in Kathmandu, Nepal few years ago. Now I am staying in Boudhanath and have opened a clinic for non-profit cause.

ABOUT CLINIC

Mipham clinic as it is called provides free check-up for patients and the medicine it sells are provided for very low cost. At present, the clinic has only one room to operate and i am the only doctor and the only person to work here.
The name of the clinic is named after a very famous Tibetan Master Mipham Namgyal Gyatso also known as Ju Mipham. He was born in 1846 A.D. in Dokham, Dege region in Tibet. He came from a family whose lineage rooted in medicine. He started studying from 8 and he was a brilliant and gifted boy. His teachers include Schiwala(second), Za Patrul, Jamyang Khentse Wangpo, Kongtrul Yonten Gyatso, Khenpo Pema Bajra and Kyabgon Wangchen Gayrab Dorje. They were all great masters of their time. His main guru was Jamyang Khentse Wangpo who personally taught him all his knowlegde.
Mipham wrote 35 books on philosophy and also many books on medicines. His students include Shehchen Gyaltsab, Kathog Situ Choki Gyamtso, Khenchen Kunga Pal. In his later years he resided in Kathog Dorje Dhen Monastery teaching his students.
My master/teacher Kunga Tsewang's teacher was Dakpo Ponglha who was a student of Mipham Namgyal Gyatso or Ju Mipham. So, its an honour for me to open up a clinic in such a great man's name.
