Certificate Program in Medical Acupuncture Alumni Club

UPDATE: November 24th Lecture CANCELLED Program (Last change November 13, 2007)

The vision of the Dr. Aung's Club is to promote a high standard of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and integrate it into modern health care. The club is a method of continuing TCM education for the members. The meetings also provide a setting in which members can meet many peers in the medical field who practice acupuncture.

Dr. Steven Aung has been teaching the Certificate Program in Medical Acupuncture at the University of Alberta since 1990. In 1996, a group of students decided to form an alumni club in honour of Dr. Aung. Our purpose is fourfold: 1. Maintaining contact with Dr. Aung 2. Continuing TCM education 3. Providing peer support for Dr. Aung's students 4. Promoting research in acupuncture We have achieved the first three goals. Only Dr. Aung's students from the CPMA can join as members. The membership fee is kept low in order to encourage membership. You have to be a member to register for our various activities. We have developed a website (you're on it) and are planning to produce 2 newsletters a year. Contributions from members will be apprecitated.

- Educational sessions with Dr. Aung on Saturday nights 5-6 times per year - Annual wilderness retreats in the fall to wilderness areas - A planned semi-annual newsletter - Planned lectures by distinguished visitors

- Canadian Medical Acupuncture Society - Canadian Health Professional Acupuncture Society - American College of Acupuncture - UCLA Center for East-West medicine
