It was early morning, the clock just on top of the bed site started ringing as hell, I opened up my eyes and suddenly something come to my mind like water falls from a storm in a late summer day down to the warm lands of the tropics. Today was �the day�, finally after spending over a year on planning, contacting agencies all over the globe, setting up my own budget and researching any sort of sources to prepare myself to the trip of my life, finally that day had come. 
Now still sitting on my bed, still half asleep and almost reluctant to believe that this wasn�t just another day at work at the Hotel where I was employed for the past six months spent in this Island, a smile come to my mouth, now I could feel almost every muscle of my face reacting as if reprieving an intense need of a laugh or a scream and indeed I started laughing as loud as I could. 
I don�t know for how long it did last; finally I paused, stood up from my bed and look intensely at my room. 
Here I had spent almost twenty weeks, about 140 days and none of them had passed away without me to think about this moment. 
I still remember the warm, captivating, deep strength sensation of power and kindness slowly overwhelming all my senses, I could see my self on the mirror, I could see a man that proudly look at himself and smile like a child on the day of his first achievement at school. 
That man was me. 
I started as quick as I could packing the last few things that still remained laying all over my room, I rushed to the toilet and had a brief shower then checked for the last time my room, opened all the closets, draws and cupboards to see if something was left but everything was empty, tough I did a good job the night before when preparing the luggage, Then I start making the usual inspection to all my documents such as passport, credit cards, air ticket and so and so. While I convinced myself that everything was 100% ok I heard a sound like horning of a car and saw the silhouette of a taxi trough the glass door from the front entrance of my little living room, the taxi driver was just waiting for me outside his white van. 
The driver was a huge man, well built on his shoulders and had a strange sort of short neck that reminded me of a crab but he was exquisitely generous and helped me to load the many and consistently heavy bags and suitcase I had with me. In that moment a few guys that used to live with me appeared from the main door of the house, I was almost inside the cab when I noticed and got back to say good bye for the very last time, so we all spent a couple of minutes reminding each other e-mail�s or various addresses and wishing all sort of god things for our future, I don�t know if I will see any of them anymore but I felt as I had a good living with them and promise myself I would keep the contact. 
After this I got up the taxi and we moved away. 
The taxi driver wasn�t a great conversation at all, actually he just did the usual greeting questions such as: where are you from, where are you fling to, how did you find this place and a couple more, he managed to remember two or three correct main cities names in Italy (guess what; Florence, Rome and Venice) and said to me that one of his younger brother did come in Italy once, for a short vacation and he saw a videotape of him in all this cities and he much liked the architecture an many other things�.

After that as if he felt he had played his role of courteous and well educated man he just keept his mouth shut for the rest of the journey, and on my side I did not tried to give him a chance to start again with his bored conversation.

I still remember the felling I had on the way to the airport, I was glad, excited for my success in what was the most wanted and waited goal of my entire life. 
For the very first time I could fell no fear at all, actually I felt as nothing could have hurt me, I had stick with my plans and going to take that plane I had dreamed about for the last two years.

In a very short time by the moment I got to the taxi till when we arrived to the airport something like a cascade of memoirs and pictures of people and places came back to my mind, well, they where in my mind now because in some way they all helped me to succeed in my intent of releasing myself from the obscurity of boredom and common life and drove me in to understanding better my own soul. 
Now sitting on the back seat of the white taxi and watching ahead of me to all the beauties of this tropical Island I was leaving with no sadness or hanger, I tanked them all with a smile and I had the certainty that this wasn�t the end of a story but just the beginning of a new life for me.
