Phase 1:
Houses #1, 2 and 3 will be built in a July, 2004 Community Build-A-Thon. The houses will be completed in 4 weeks.
House #4 will be built by Dover area churches, much like the N. Broad Street Project built by 35 York area churches in 2003. That project‘s name is Building On Faith 2004 and will start in September, 2004 and is planned for completion in 8 weeks. Currently 24 Faith Communities are considering their involvement in this project.
House #5 will be built by Youth United in April, 2005.
Houses #6 through 16 are still in the governmental approval process. However plans are now underway for houses 6 through 8.
Houses #6 and 7 will be built at a Build-A-Thon 2005 in July, 2005.
House #8 will be built at as a Building on Faith 2005 project in September, 2005.
At this point, Phase I of the project will then be complete.
Directions from the south:
Proceed north on PA Route 74 through the Dover square. Approximately 0.2 miles beyond the square, turn right on Butter Road. Proceed northeast for approximately 0.2 miles to Allen Road on the left.
Directions from the north:
Proceed south on PA Route 74 to approximately 0.2 miles before the Dover square. Turn left on Butter Road. Proceed northeast for approximately 0.2 miles to Allen Road on the left.
Phase 1- Charles Lane:
Turn left on Allen Lane, travel one short block, then turn left on Rachael Road. Proceed to the second street , turn right on Charles Lane and proceed to the end of the street. Charles Lane will be extended, culminating in the first cul-de-sac.

Dover Project
- Land was donated by Charles and Mary Jane Downs (2001)
- Tract of land includes 6.5 acres
- Donated land was appraised at $275,000
- Habitat will construct 16 houses surrounding 2 cul-de-sacs
- The project will take place in two phases, the second beginning in 2007
Dover Homes
- First three homes will be started in July 2004 with a one week "blitz build"
- Based on family size, three four or five bedroom homes will be built
- Homes will be simple, affordable and comparable to the neighborhood
- Homes will be valued at $90,000 to $100,000
Why Build Low-income Homes in Dover
- There is a need in Dover!!!!!
- 150 Dover families live below the poverty level
- 15.5% of single mother households live in poverty
- 20% of single mother households with children under 5 live in poverty
