Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN   January 6th and 13th, 2001
Ten hour hospital-based class for expectant parents.  Topics covered include nutrition, exercise,
physiology of pregnancy and labor, labor progress and stages, patterned breathing,
Cesarean birth, newborn care, and breastfeeding.

DONA Doula Certification Workshop
Gail Tully and Nickie Kerrigan, trainers. January 19-21, 2001
A weekend-long seminar concentrating on the role and purpose of a doula, comfort measures,
physiology of labor, emotional needs of the laboring woman, ethics and scope of practice,
the birth team, and much more.  Teaching methods included role-play, hands-on practice of
physical comfort methods, positioning, lecture, video, and literature.

DONA Advanced Doula Training
Taught by Ruth Anchetta, Amy Gilleland, Karen Kohls  March 1, 2003
Seminar focusing on advanced topics such as Communication with Medical Staff;
Fetal Rotation & Descent; Inductions; and Postpartum Issues including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Minneapolis Childbirth Collective

Non-profit organization of childbirth professionals providing weekly prenatal informational topic nights
for expectant parents.  Topics covered include the purpose of doula care, medications and interventions,
the natural rhythm of labor, comfort measures, Cesarean prevention, waterbirth,
marriage after childbirth, and many more.

Metro Doula Registry Inservice Spinning Babies
Taught by Gail Tully   September 17, 2001
Seminar focusing on posterior babies and methods within the doula scope
to assess and help them turn to the optimal position for labor. 

Childbirth Collective Inservices
Doula Ethics -
With Suzanne Swanson  March 15, 2003.  An ethical look at doula-encountered
situations, interaction with medical caregivers, and client boundaries.

Breastfeeding - June 21, 2003.  Breastfeeding issues, resources, how a doula helps
establish a healthy breastfeeding relationship.
