Don't I look literary?
(photo copyright Adam Chase, 2001)

Hopefully you already know who I am, seeing as you ended up here.  If  you don't, Howdy.  My name is Kevin Dole 2 and this is my webpage.  The above links should take you to where you want to go. Or check out my space

6/19/5- If you came here looking for updates go here. Last week I did my first internet-radio interview in support of Tangerinephant. I mentioned it on my new myspace, but forgot to mention it here. I think I'm going to be using myspace primarily from now on. It takes less time, and people are more likely to read it. I'll still be using this page for the things that myspace isn't good for, but I won't be updating this log.

4/29/5- I'll be giving a short reading at Totally Awesome House in Ann Arbor, MI as part of Totally Awesome Fest. Also, copies of T-phant can be purchased at The Planet in in downtown Ann Arbor.

4/23/5- Tangerinephant is now available to order through Amazon.

4/11/5- I interviewed Nick Mamatas for Strange Horizons.

3/30/5- Tangerinephant is off to the printers and is available for preorder!

3/7/5- A more legit link to the review.

2/25/5- Nick Mamatas done spilled the beans by posting my review of his novel Move Under Ground that is featured in the March issue of The Believer.

2/9/5- I've been sitting on this for a while to make sure it's legit, but I feel it is now safe to announce that Tangerinephant will soon be published by Afterbirth Books. I'm in the process of putting up a new site for it, which for now only links to the press' page. More info as it develops . . .

2/2/5- The current "all poetry" issue of The Dream People makes use of some of my art.

2/1/5- What do you know, it's actually 2005. Ring in the new year with "Autograph," over at The Dodsley Pages.

1/3/4- Math problem date. Long time no update. Litelit has died, so I now host The Last Pacman on the Island here.

10/12/4- These four new pieces were previously available only in print but I've put them online: Provoking the Muse, Everything is Full of Holes, Mourning Wood, and Incantation to be Said on the Grave of H.P. Lovecraft.

9/9/4- How time doth fly. Not only have I passed the second anniversary on this site, I've neglected to mention a recent publication! My story "In The Valley of Shub-Shub" has seen print in the 9/04 issue of Aoife's Kiss.

8/1/4- My "Bizarre Romance" issue of The Dream People is now online.

7/21/4- An old joke over at the The New Absurdist.

7/3/4- Math problem date. The issue of Mythos Collector featuring my interview with Peter Scartabello is finally available.

6/25/4- Stores where the yellow elephant is sold include Shaman Drum in Ann Arbor, Henrietta Fahrenheit in Yspilanti, and Made in Detroit in, yes, Detroit.

6/19/4- My story "Everything is Full of Holes" appears in the latest issue of The First Line.

6/16/4- New poem "Mourning Wood" is published in the latest (volume II.i) the yellow elephant. Copies can be had for $3 at obscure bookstores around Ann Arbor and Detroit or try elephantoes(at)hotmail(dot)com.

6/1/4- Script for Hemingway Cats Comix #1 is up at the Dream People.

5/30/4- I'll be editing an issue of The Dream People with the theme "bizarre romance". Queries/submissions to kevindole2(at)mailhaven(dot)com.

5/1/4- By and by. My poem "Incantation to be Said on the Grave of H.P. Lovecraft" appears in the current (#3) issue of Book of Dark Wisdom. Also, another poem of mine "Provoking the Muse" appears in the 2004 Edition of Cellar Roots. If you happen to live in the EMU area and are one of the few people I haven't mentioned it to, do pick up a copy.

4/17/4- Suprisingly enough, a scrap of writing of mine appears in the new book from Found Magazine. Unbeknownst to me, a story about how I found Stacks the cat that I had scribbled on the back of a submission was included. I didn't know until someone at the release party told me. I had been surprised in this way since a letter of mine was printed in a Spawn comic.

3/26/4- Been a while. A review I did of jasen lex's The Gypsy Lounge is now up on Ninth Art/

1/16/4- Unbeknownst to mine ownself, Dicey Brown has put up my story Still Waters Run Wide and Deep From Narrow Wells. Also, a review I wrote of some comics by Donna Barr is up on Ninth Art.

12/12/3- My final column at the Echo.

12/6/3- A new column at the Echo.

11/23/3- In my first acknowledged contribution to fandom, "Zombie Haiku Cycle" is now being mirrored at Homepage of the Dead. It's in the fiction section.

11/21/3- Another column up at the Echo. I know the copy editors are busy, but this isprobably the worst headline they've given me yet. I didn't think the article was THAT incoherent.

11/19/3- Another column over at the Echo.

11/11/3- Hope your Armistice Day has gone as nice as mine. An interview I did with Sounds of the Czars is now up on Jam Rag.

11/3/3 (later)- Present Tense is now online at the New Absurdist.

11/3/3- A feature article I wrote about the comic Vogelein and it's creator Jane Irwin is no online at Ninth Art.

ALSO: More absurdity from Laura L. Jaworski: Chunnel Vision News, Bonny Day, and Playthings.

10/31/3 (later)- Travels With Ringdemon is now up on the The New Absurdist.

10/31/3- So the "Evilive," or whatever it's called, art supplement to the Echo, is now available in today's edition. I'm in it, but I wish I wasn't. They cut my work in half, retitled it, and got my name wrong. So yes, I am pissed. They don't seem to have a webpage, but I wouldn't link to it anyway. I'll put "Travels with Ringdemon," up on the New Absurdist as soon as their server stops crashing.

Also a new, ignoble column in the Echo today.

10/27/3- My new e-book CATS HATE FISH LOVE BAATHS is now online at bizarrEbooks. It's all stories that have already been available here, but it's free. So go read it. The chapbook version will soon be available for sale. In the meantime, the writings page has been updated. Links, too.

10/23/3- Muchos nuevos!

-I'll soon be releasing an e-book of stories through bizarrEbooks, and publishing a related chapbook in conjunction with the Ypsi-based production company Local Talent, home of Matt G. and Justin Bardic.

-Also, the Eastern Echo has a new monthly art supplement called "Evil." I'll have a story in the debut issue. It's very evil. Yes. Be sure to pick it up if you live within the 4 block radius of its publicaiton. I don't yet know if "Evil" will have a web presence, but I'll post here if it does.

10/18/3- New, trite, column at the Echo.

10/7/3- My chest's a-bursting with pride to report that the excellent online magazine Fables is running a new story by my dear friend Laura L. Jaworski. Do read Ashes in the Hearth.

10/5/3- My dear friend Laura L. Jaworski has published in the New Absurdist. You all should go forth and peep The Joymonger

10/3/3- And another column up at the Eastern Echo.

10/1/3- After long delay, another column up at the Eastern Echo.

9/23/3- A story of mine has been accepted by the online magazine Dicey Brown, which has been linked. "Still Waters Run Wide and Deep From Narrow Wells" will appear in the upcoming winter issue.

9/18/3- New story at the New Absurdist. I present for your consideration, Republikahn.

9/8/3- Wow. I just realized that I recently passed the one year mark with this website. I shall continue to maintain, since it seems to be good for my work.

ACTUAL NEWS- I'm going to be in print again! That's right, actual print! As in words on paper that people can purchase! My story "The Pick" will appear in the next volume of the "Wrong Side of the Afterlife" series by Raw Dog Screaming Press, whenever they get around to releasing it. I also have a new column at The Eastern Echo, my college paper. It's interesting work in my chosen field of study, one that I have little talent for. Probably of little interest to anybody who is reading this, since it will address almost exclusively local issues.

8/20/3- A new story on the New Absurdist, recalling the glorious salad days of my youth . . . Letter From Camp Zombie Holocaust.

8/14/3- The good folks at the Metro Times have given corrected their mistake.

8/13/3- I won! I won! At least I think I won . . . A story of mine placed in the Metro Times 2003 Summer Fiction Issue, but it is strangely attributed to Kevin Doelez (?). In any case, Obviating Squirrels is definitely mine. Accordingly, Metro Times has been forgiven and linked.

8/11/3- New story at the New Absurdist. Go peep Riders.

7/24/3- Check out this review of The First Line. It speaks quite nicely of a story by me dear friend Laura L. Jaworski. It's the third review down. Go check out the mag if you haven't already.

7/6/3- Fucking dancing here! The good folks at Ludlow Press have made my day by asking to see the rest of my manscript! Therefore, they have been linked.

5/15/3- Created a homepage for that class.

5/6/3- Added a blog for this class with this guy

5/5/3- La Voz Latina got linked.

4/14/- Wow. That's probably the longest break between updates in a while. Rest assured that this page will be seeing a lot more activity coming up. A lot of the things that set into motion over the winter shoudl be coming to a head. My story "It Happens" is now up on Denovozine. The editor was still interested despite my double-dipping. Either my story's just that good, or he's desperate for material. And, as always, links have been updated.

3/20/3- Two things today. My dear friend Laura Jaworski is helping organize pro-peace/anti-war a poetry reading at Brewed Awakenings coffee house in Toledo at 8 PM this Saturday, 3/22. Come.

I am also in something of a minor quandrary. A story I submitted I don't know how long ago has been accepted by Denovozine. That's good, but I forgot I had submitted it (I also didn't think that anyone would publish it) and passed it on to Local Talent

. I'll have to tell them.

3/13/3- I've reprinted my letter concerning Patriot II in the Ypsilanti Courier.

3/9/3- My Jam Rag story on Petroleum Bloodfang is now online.

1/21/3- Added another new link. Also something new at the New Absurdist.

1/18/3 12:50 PM- Holy shit! I sold another story! Sold as in they pay me money! I last updated this page around 12:30 AM, and when I got up 12 hours later to check my email I'd received an email from Fables saying that they'll be running my story at the end of June! How many sentences can I end in exclamation! Wow. Anyway, I as always, I have updated the links page.

1/18/3- Minor tweaks to the code, as those of you viewing this page in lynx may have noticed. Also updated the copyright.

1/14/3- Place another story. "The Sainted Lady of the Sea" will appear in the June issue of The Dream People webzine. Accordingly, I've added them to the links page.

1/1/3- I have another story on The New Absurdist. It's called R&R, as is "rest and relaxation." Also some additions to the links page, as well as some miniscule changes to other pages not worth mentioning. Except that I just did. Drat.

12/17/2- After long delay Zombie Haiku Cycle is finally up on Dark Moon Rising. I'll put it up here when the rights revert back to me.

11/25/2- Added a new person and publication to the links page.

11/14/2- Interesting occurance today. I finally got around to submitting a new set of stories for publication and already have receieved a response regarding one. I sent "The Descendants of WSB" to Bastard Fiction this afternoon, and by this evening receieved a response. The editor said he liked it, but said it was not quite appropriate. He did however, suggested I submit it to the New Absurdist, which I did. So there it sits.

11/5/2- More links today.

9/18/2- I placed another story! That brings my total fiction credits to three! It's a short piece called "Bird Story" that will appear in the October issue of Writers Hood. I'll put it up in the stories section as soon as Writers Hood takes it down.

9/17/2- Mild modifications to the faq page.

9/6/2- Gave credit where credit is due in the comics section.

9/4/2- Put up the first chapter of Tangerinephant in the stories section.

9/2/2- Started this primitive little comments log.
