SNOW BIRDS

For ten years, Island Breeze Hotel was our winter home. Our last season there was January throught March 2004. On our way home, we drove to Titusville on the east coast to visit our dear friends, Bob and Shirley Tomblin. We loved Pelican Point condos where they winter so much we bought a condo there in April. We miss our fiends we wintered with at Panama City Beach, but love the warmer weather here in Titusville.

WINTER MEMORIES IN PANAMA CITY BEACH

As sure as the snow flies, Snow Birds migrate from the northern states and Canada to Florida each year. Their average stay is three to five months. We are happy to be among those snow birds as we live in the snow belt near Cleveland, Ohio. We have been wintering in Panama City Beach, Florida since 1995.

One of our favorite things to do is to walk in the white-white sand that is as soft as powdered sugar. It is always exciting to get here, and visit with our friends who come each year. We do a lot of group things together. We play shuffle board, cards, miniature golf, have potluck dinners, swim in the heated pool, and relax when we sit in the hot tub. Every now and then we are forced to walk up to the second floor laundry room to do a load of laundry.

The hotel is owned by Junior and Glenda Cook who makes available a party room for us, and bends over backward to make our stay a pleasant one.

My first visit to Florida was with my neighbor, Jean McPeek. We flew to Pensacola in late October, and I felt like I had entered paradise. We left freezing sleet and snow behind, and it was 80 degrees there. As we sat by the pool one day I said, "Just listen to those birds singing."

Jean said, "Wouldn't you sing to in warm weather like this." She was right. As the sun warmed my skin . . . I sang in my heart. Dolores Riggs Davis
