DiseaseEcology is a free internet mailing list for the discussion of the ecology of disease in natural populations hosted at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DiseaseEcology
This mailing is a bit of an experiment; however, if successful it could provide an excellent opportunity for discussion of ideas, statistical techniques, published literature, software, websites etc. related to the ecology of disease in natural populations.
The intent is to keep the discussion to an academic nature. Other acceptable posts could include conference announcements and job postings. There are approximately 20 megabytes of storage space available for distributing software applications. If the list generates interest, future expansion to include virtual conferences and manuscript distribution may be possible.
Commercial email and SPAM will not be tolerated.
At present, the mailing list is moderated (i.e., all messages are reviewed prior to being distributed to subscribers). By registering at www.egroups.com when you subscribe, you can tailor your email delivery to suit your personal needs (i.e., you can choose to receive individual messages, daily summaries, or to not receive email at all but rather view messages on the web).
A mailing list is only as useful as the material that its subscribers post,
so please view this as an opportunity to generate some
thought-provoking discussion on a new and exciting field of ecology!
