Boy oh boy, does my knee ever hurt today. I was up most of the night with it, guess I really did over do yesterday, of course standing on it for hours helping wrap gifts didn't help none too much. I called my mom today, she is mad at me. She wants me to come get her so she can help me around the house, she know exactly how I feel since she has had knee surgery herself. She really did, about 20 years ago. I told her I had Robert and Crystal here and she was o.k. with that as long as I wasn't alone and understand why I can't come see her right now.

We went Christmas shopping for awhile today, went to see mom but she was already in bed, the staff said she was fine but had gotten up very early. The master brake cylinder for my brakes went out on the way home too, thank God we were close to the house and didn't wreck. David's friend from work is coming tomorrow to see if he can fix it for me.

I got my car fixed and not for an arm nor a leg, SMILE. We have the house done for decorations, now to get the tree this weekend. I am going to get my mom to take along also.

Decemeber 6th
Got the tree yesterday and mom. She was able to stay until 8:00, had lunch and dinner with us and helped with the tree. Her job is always putting those metal hangers on the bulbs since I am a clutz. The tree looks so pretty, I love just sitting and looking at it while Christmas carols play in the background, so does mom although she was doing a fair share of singing them too and correctly. Oh yeah, I got my stitches out today, my knee is healing great and should be just fine, I go back in January for a recheck.

I am sorry I haven't been updating daily but there really just isn't anything to say, life is so boring without mom here. I clean, watch t.v., play on the 'puter, and go a few places but that is it. I have been enjoying looking at the tree and listening to cd's, relaxing really. My knee is coming along fine, not swelling much and not painful, I am able to bend it and use it alot more now. My overall health is great, I haven't felt so god in a very long time, way before the diagnosis, didn't realize I had been sick for quite so long. Robert is still off work from his shoulder, he finds out about more surgery in January, other than this the familly is doing great. I am planning a bid deal for New Years Eve! If all goes right I will get a pair of footed sleepers for Christmas, maybe a new throw blanket and a book or good video and I will curl up with a glass of warmed Eggnog and issue in the New Year from my couch. SMILE

We are preparing for what might be our first snow fall tonight. The weather man is calling for snow at 500 ft. and that is me. I was going to go to church this morning for the Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe but had to go shopping for batteries, anti-freeze etc. Robert got all the cars drained, flushed and filled so they are good to go if we do get snow. My grand-daughters are staying over tonight and tomorrow night because their folks have to be to work at 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.. They stayed over Friday night and we went to the walk-in for the first time, imagine that, the first tme. We saw Toy Story 2, it was great. I laughed more than the girls I think, Woody reminds me of my brother! We had loads of fun making cookies when we got home but more fun eating them with ice cold milk while they were still warm. I went to see mom Thursday and she is great. There is a lady there, Angeline (angel) that looks so much like my grandma, mom's mother, that it is scarey. No wonder why mom is always talking about grandma nowdays. Angeline and mom are great friends, staying up in the dining room talking until bedtime. Angeline has all her facilites about her, her physical condition limits her, and I am so happy that mom has someone to really talk to. I may ask Angeline if I could take a picture of her to post as a comparisson with my grandma's.

We didn't get the snow we were suppose to get, I'm really glad for now. My daughter-in-law Melody is working out of town now and the commute is hard enough without snow. I had my grand-daughters again last night and you might know I couldn't sleep, just because I had to get up at 7:00 a.m. was no reason to think I'd sleep I guess. I did lay down this evening for a few minutes after they left and and awoke 5 hours later SO, I don't think I'll be getting any sleep tonight either. SMILE

I have been so sick these past few days with a cold, I tried as hard as possible not to let it get me but it did. I can't believe the diminished capacity of my lungs, I feel like I am suffocating at times. Haven't been able to mom or bring her up like I promised either, she sure doesn't need to get this, I am praying I get better soon, Christmas is only a week away and she will be here then. I still have all my baking to do plus Christmas dinner, ahhhhhhhhhhh.

December 21st
I just got back from mom's Christmas party and boy was it fun. Santa was there and gave out presents to all the residents, mom got a beautiful stuffed polar bear. We sang carols, very loudly and ate a bunch of goodies. Many family members turned out for it and I was very surprised at how many that we knew. I spent last night baking 11 dozzen cookies to take never thinking that it might not be a good idea due to health laws etc. but the staff told me to just lay them down and if they got eaten Oh Well, so I did, needless to say none came home with me. LOL. Tonight I take my grand-daughters out to Christmas Light Houses as per our tradition. I am finally getting the mood for Christmas.

December 26th
What a wonderful Christmas we had. My brother was able to come up from California to spend it with us, I got mom from the NH home on Friday morning and took her back today after my brother left. Everyone was in good moods, happy and jolly, no cranky grand-daughters or mom's. We had Christmas breakfast, opened presents galore, then the family came back for a big dinner that was great even if I do say so myself. I felt so fortunate to have been allowed to celebrate another Birthday for Christ with all my family around me. I have such a peaceful and easy feeling all about me, euphoric almost. I feared so that I wouldn't be around this year and getting through Christmas as happy as we were/are is just so great. I truely could die tomorrow with no regrets or sorrows, I'm not going to however!! SMILE. I hope each and everyone of you had a TERRIFIC CHRISTMAS and will have a most memorable NEW YEAR and a safe one. Let us not allow the terrorists to win by celebrating in fear, this is the year of Jubilation. Love to all.

December 30th
Well, everyone around here is bracing for Y2K, terrorists and who knows what else. The town I live in was the site of two arrests; one they found a cache of bombs and explosives the other found a cache of guns all linked to the Aryan Nation crap but this was several years ago, nothoing recent thank God. I have my water, some wood, candles and a good book so I am ready. SMILE. I am leaving mom at the NH just in case we have trouble with the electricity, they have back up generators I don't, she will come up Saturday for brunch instead.

December 31st
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve and fantastic Year 2000. I know for me it will be better that this one was.
