This poem is an interpretation of the first world watching Garden of Eden pattern with 27 cards.
It reflects on the aftermath of the 11th of September, when suicide muslim terrorists had hijacked four airplanes in the USA. One hit the Pentagon, and two crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. It was the collapse of the WTC Twin Towers, shown on TV, that put the whole Western world in a state of shock.
My big pattern and the poem respond directly to these feelings of insecurity, but I also saw coming events in the context of dominion over the Arab oil fields. At the time war in Afghanistan was imminent, and this could easily lead to future conflicts of the USA against 'rogue nations' like Iraq. The Dutch sentiment, like the British, was to stick to President Bush and his global campaign against terrorism.
A year later I added 9 cards to the pattern, to include three archetypical parts to be played on our changing world stage. This spread is not a composition: all 36 cards were placed after shuffling the pack!
