Fire and Ice
by David A. Olson
Queen of Ice stands alone
in her frozen wasteland

Mage of Fire sits alone
in his desert wasteland

Queen of Ice leaves her home
to find a love that's lost

Mage of Fire stays at home
to grieve the life he's lost

Queen of Ice stumbles into
an ashy, flaming desert

It warms her skin
thaws her bones
and sets her heart to yearning

Mage of Fire feels hope anew
coming across the desert

She cools his skin
chills his bones
and sets his heart to yearning

Queen and Mage, Ice and fire,
Magics that always clash

Queen and Mage feel desire
although their powers clash

Queen and Mage, they require
magics they lost in touch

Queen and Mage, both expire
found love, lost lives in touch
