The summer time is when many towns celebrate their saints' feast day. There is a mixture of bands, fireworks, and alcohol. Perhaps the biggest feast day is Santa Maria in August.
This picture was taken in 1987 atop Birzebuggia's church's bellfry. In the front is St. Peter's Band Club. I played my trumpet for them in 1987, 1988 and 1989.
In the distance  are the fuel storage tanks where I used to go swimming. Sadly, those tanks are seeping fuel through their limestone foundation and swimming is not permitted anymore...but that doesn't stop the tourists!
