Only 9.6 miles today - it was a hard day, and seemed like a lot more. Tomorrow, we go through Mahoosuc Notch and Mahoosuc Arm. These two are tough and will take a while to negotiate. After that I am expecting the trail to get progressively easier. Today presented quite a lot of boulder and rock face scrambles, however, there were also some great views when I reached the summits of some of the mountains.

'Blaze' and I hiked together most of the day. The temperature was in the 80's as it's been for the last few days. As of 5:00 P.M. we have not met any other hikers; it's really thinning out. A check of the register in the shelter here and at the last shelter gave us about 15 names we recognized. Has everyone else we hiked with dropped out?

Ripe blueberries on the trail today (as has been the case for the last few weeks); they are small so a lot of work is required to pick a mouthful, however they are very tasty. A father-daughter section hiker team has arrived as well as two Northbounders, whose names I have forgotten.

Almost forgot to mention - I crossed the state line into Maine, the last state. Hooray!

That's it for today. Goodnight all.
