Concert Reviews:
Greetings, welcome and enjoy the reviews.
What a long strange trip it's been....
(there are a few personal blogs here and there too, so
be careful what you click on, it may not have anything to do with the
Moodies, at all!)
Updated Dec 22, 2008: For the record, I first
found the Moody Blues in Spring 1968 (I think) when my brother dashed
in to my little-girl bedroom in suburbia Orange County, and said
"There’s this really neat album we have to buy, do you have some
money?" Off he went with my scraped-up nickels and dimes, to buy Days
of Future Passed. Karma is a strange thing, he’s now a millionaire,
and I scratch along at the poverty level as a substitute teacher.
......my first Moody concert was in 1990, at the Concord Pavilion.
In fact I think they were about the 3rd band I’d ever seen live, as
it’s not something I normally do for fun. (I’m pretty nerdy in some
ways). It was one heckuva show, and after the release of Keys of
the Kingdom in 1991, I decided I should join the Official Fan
Club. Coincidentally I began a Master’s program in Psychology at the
same time. It’s been a wild ride ever since. "Search for the truth"
doesn’t even begin to cover the strange head trips I’ve been through.
Here in 2007 (17 years after the first time I saw the Moodies live in
person) I’m still not certain "what is truth and what is illusion"
but I do know it’s been very interesting, and very fun. I think I
keep going back to the shows for the same reason the band keeps
touring. We hang onto what defines us. I heard that on the
telly the other day.
I quit going to the Casino shows for a very good reason, the
"fanny" things were driving me nuts. People at the casinos are into
their own little weird ego trips, and not the music, sadly. So read
those with a grain of salt. Hopefully no one will take serious
offense, I’ve worked hard to take out the "in poor taste" things
about SPECIFIC PEOPLE that jumped through the keyboards onto the
webs, but in some cases, I DIDN‘T (wound me, I bleed too!). We
need to reflect on what is going on with ourselves, and our fan club
as a whole. If you recognize yourself doing something really "not
right" please think about it. Celebrities hide from their fans with
reason, and sadly the Moodies stay behind the fourth wall too much.
Bless ‘em they try to reach out though, I‘ve never seen so many
signing parties and events from a band! They are people too, like the
rest of us, and we all should try to "give just a little bit more,
take a little bit less from each other".
I’ve included reviews by friends, who said long ago I could post
them on my site, Cindy "the Violet Rose", Cheryl Bezek and Cathy
"Keester" Loyd, and if they are out there somewhere, please write, I
miss you guys. robin5150@yahoo.com
