Vara[DRAG-SNOB]'s 3 at 30
by Morgane

A DRAG-SNOB in this case is a Draconian Elitist. Which is to say, an Elitist spinoff of Charis's fine Draconian variant. The first of her kind, and with the imminent release of the class' rules, it was basically my duty to do a 3@30. Not that it was some kind of chore or anything.

Even though SNOBs hate Hell/Hell (or is it the other way 'round?) I was determined to walk into the place like I owned it, as a Diablo Sorceror should. Level 13 loaded up, and I cast MS. Walking around the room, I recognized the floorplan and jumped a wall. Two dogs started after me but I stood ground and fried them with Charged Bolt. Leaving the hall, the stairs were exactly where they were supposed to be and led directly to Level 15. So far, the level was silent as I traced the room getting my bearings. Suddenly 3 yellow stars came from down the hall leading to Laz's office. Of course, this run had been too good to be true, and the universe even in a game obeys Murphy's Law. However, I had come prepared. As 30 approached Vara had traded her Mindcry for a Rod of Onan, and me and 50 friends said we were going to see Laz tonight.

Every possible Soulburner was on level 15. One by one they were lured to a quiet spot where my Golem 'Rocky' would not be distubed by yellow clouds of Bloodstars. While this happened, Balrogs were discovered on the level. This was unfourtunate, because Vara has no shield and 20% fire resist while carrying the ROO. One hour later, Laz was forced out the door of his office and killed by Elemental. By this time getting off the level was the only thing I wanted to do, so I Telesearched the Pentagram.

On 16 the layout was very favorable. There was a thick partial wall between the levers and D's house. The open space was nearly unguarded, so before long it was time. I caught Diablo's eye by sending a raft of Charged Bolts into his living room. As he obligingly chased me, I kept it up, leapfrogging him as he closed. Diablo would chase Vara through a field of CB's back and forth, over and over. Finally, when I grew tired of it, I added a thick Firewall* to the mix. Two seconds later the screen froze, and I ran away from the computer to escape the movie.**

Vara wears: Thinking Cap, Scavenger's Carapace, a pair of Bleeders, Dragon's Breach, Wizard's Spike, and Rod of Onan. Since I'm not planning a return to Hell/Hell in the near future, I might switch out the ROO for a ThunderCall, or Falcon's Talon at level 35.

* A Draconian Elitist does not lose the abilty to breath fire, but prefers Elemental.

** ...when you know you've played too much Diablo.
