Agent Cody Banks
Dir. Harald Zwart
Cute is the perfect word to describe this movie. Its so cute. Frankie Muniz is cute as Cody Banks, a kid who is recruited by the CIA to be in a new junior agents program. Hilary Duff (as Natalie Connors) is cute as the object of Codys mission. He has to get close to her, so the CIA can get close to her father (Martin Donovan,) a scientist whos in over his head with the bad guys. Angie Harmon isnt cute, but shes fun as Ronica Miles. She plays Codys CIA handler, and she is perpetually on the verge of popping out of whatever outfit shes in.

Agent Cody Banks isnt a ground-breaking kids movie. It doesnt go outside of any boxes, but who cares? Its a light comedy, its fun, and its a couple of hours of escape from your grown-up world. Cody has the kind of childhood I wanted. He gets to be a secret agent and not even his parents know. It doesnt get him out of doing chores or being grounded, but he gets some cool gadgets and goes on an adventure. There is one horribly embarrassing scene when hes trying to talk to a girl, but other than that one part, its pure fun. How many movies can you say that about? Most movies are about stressful conflict. This one is about no-stress conflict. Its refreshing.

You should go see it. Its cute.

I rate it: Rental

Frankie Muniz as Cody Banks
Hilary Duff as Natalie Connors
Angie Harmon as Ronica Miles
Keith David as CIA Director
