| Smailholm Tower
is located in southern Scotland in the Borders region near the village
of Kelso. The tower is a well preserved example of a tower keep,
although the surrounding curtain wall and gate have long since been
demolished. This castle was a pleasant diversion from our tour of
border abbeys in the area. The interior of the castle is set up
as a
museum. You can explore the battlements on the roof for wonderful
views of the countryside for miles in every direction. |
