The
Drum is not so much a castle as a
stately home located on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The castle
has
been converted to a hotel for overnight lodging. When my wife and
I
visited Scotland for the first time in 1991, we spent a few nights at
the Drum so that we could say that we had stayed in a real Scottish
castle. The accomodations and the gardens on the estate were
nice,
although I would have to say that the castle seemed more like a hotel
than some ancient fortification. |
