Warning, if you really believe the biblical scholars and priests, then you wont believe my interpretation of Daniels prophecy and the two witnesses. I hope with my verse by verse explanation you will see my point of view. I shouldn't say "my interpretation", all my explanations are referenced from the bible, I don't interpret a verse, I use the bible to interpret for me.   Many people don't know this, but the Bible explains itself, you just have to find it within the bible and  read the correct version of the bible. I like the King James bible myself, because they translated the bible word for word.  Newer versions of the bible translate it so its easier to understand in today's language, but in so doing change the meaning of the text. Try it yourself, compare a verse from Daniels verses of 9:24-27 with a King James bible and other bibles and see what the differences are.

The Bible is the truth, but you must seek it to understand it. Remember that God or Jesus never lied, but Jesus and the  prophets were all called liars because the people of their time could not see the truth, it was only after the fact that their truth became understood. So remember that when you read the Bible, a lot of what you read sounds to extreme to be real, but what will you say after the prophecies start becoming reality.

• Below you will be reading an excerpt from Daniels prophecy, Daniel was a beloved prophet of God from the old testament bible. who had these magnificent "end time" visions of the future that people today still use these visions to foretell when and how the "end times" will come.
  
• The next section is the worlds (biblical scholars) generally accepted meaning of his prophecy.
  
• Then I will have my own explanation of his prophecy, which I will show you, verse by verse, why I think the biblical scholars are wrong.

King James Bible

Daniel 9:24 –

"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy People and upon the Holy City, to finish the transgression, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

Daniel 9:25 –

"Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times."

Daniel 9:26 –

"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,but not for himself: and the people of the Prince that shall come shall destroy the city and sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolation’s are determined."

Daniel 9:27 –

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

Daniel's prophecy (in chapter 9:24-27) of 490 Years of punishment has been generally accepted with this interpretation:

Daniel 9:24 - "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy People and upon the Holy City, to finish the transgression, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

Daniel prophesies 490 years of punishment on the Jewish people.

Daniel 9:25 - "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times."

Daniel says that 49 + 434 (483) years shall pass until anointed one(Jesus) comes.

Daniel 9:26 - "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,but not for himself: and the people of the Prince that shall come shall destroy the city and sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolation’s are determined."

After 434 years anointed one killed (Jesus crucifixion)

Daniel 9:27 - "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

A King will arise and sign a 7 year peace treaty with the people (Jews).

Overview of Daniels prophecy that has been accepted worldwide

• These are the 7 years that are left in the prophecy (490-483=7). After half that time ,"midst of the week", this King will break the treaty and stop the Jews from all their sacrifices and their offerings and will defile the sanctuary of God (Temple), which results in the desolation of the Temple. God will intervene after 3.5 years, which is what is remaining of the 7-year peace treaty and would complete the 490 years of punishment (49+483+3.5+3.5=490).
  
• Ever since the Jewish people got their land back in 1948 and Jerusalem in 1967 (6 day war), which is the original location of the Temple, people are waiting for them to rebuild the Temple.
  
• They are also waiting for Israel to sign a 7-year peace treaty with a country, probably an Arab nation.
  
• In doing so, it will set in motion the final 7 years of Daniel's prophecy, in which the Arab nation will break the treaty after 3.5 years, probably because they built the new Temple on Arab holy ground.
  
• By setting up its own religion in the temple (thus stopping the Jews of their sacrifices and offerings to God), the Arabs are fulfilling the last 7 years Daniel's Prophecy.
  
• The breaking of the treaty is what people think will start WWWIII,- nations would take sides, nations against nations-(Mathew 24:7) and it will end when God intervenes (Daniel 9:27) - Jesus' second coming.

My Interpretation using the King James Bible:

Seventy weeks is 490 years, for every day that God punishes would be a year for man (7 * 70 weeks = 490). It would take this long for the "everlasting righteousness" to come, which would be Jesus as our King on Earth.

God is telling Daniel to understand that from the command to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be 49 years, plus another 434 years, even in bad times. The time Daniel was writing this prophecy, Babylon had captured and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple, which was in 586 BC, as prophesied by earlier prophets. So in Daniel’s time, the city lay in ruins, but in his prophecy he declares it will be rebuilt, which it was. Daniel also says "Messiah The Prince ", so Jesus is considered the Prince.

After 434 years Jesus would be "cut off". Cut off means his death, but also that he did not finish something, like in someone’s time being cut short. "shall Messiah be cut off" is the same as in Jeremiah 11:19.

Jesus died not because he wanted to, but he had to wipe away our sins, for he had no sins of his own to wipe away ("but not for himself").

"the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and sanctuary."

People have taken this phrase "people of the Prince" and made this Prince to be an evil King.

The phrase did not say "Prince and his people", but "people of the prince", so these people belonged to the same nationality, group or region that this prince represents. The Prince in verse 26 is only mentioned as a reference to a group of people, not as an individual or even being with this group of people at the time of the temple destruction. In verse 25, Messiah is mentioned before "the people of the prince" as in verse 26, and Daniel states that the messiah is the prince (verse 25), so the word Prince in "people of the Prince" must refer to Jesus.

Who are the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and sanctuary? It could have been three types of people.

1. First one being is that if Jesus is the Prince, then the Prince must be Jewish. The Jewish People because of their own abominations could have caused the destruction of the Temple, prophesied throughout the old testament (Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, etc.) as Gods punishment for the breaking of his commandments. In Jesus' time Romans controlled Israel, and the Jewish people were under direct control of Rome. The Jewish people, because of their intolerance to Roman rule, caused the Romans to destroy Israel, which they did - The temple was destroyed by the Romans in 68 or 70 ad. and has never been rebuilt since that time. God had used the Romans to punish Israel.
2. Secondly the Jewish people were considered Roman citizens because Rome had control over Israel, so Jesus could also be considered as a Roman Citizen.
3. Thirdly, the "people" could also be the new Christians, Jesus' followers, for they will be the new church, or Temple, as stated through out the new testament, thus making the old Temple symbolically destroyed.

So anyone of these three groups of people could have been considered "the people of the Prince", each one destroying the temple in a different way, physically (Rome), mentally (Jews - Israelites), and with their hearts (Christians) .

"and the end thereof shall be with a flood"

The end for the "people of the prince" is with a flood (destroyed).

If Jesus is considered Jewish - The Jews were destroyed by the Romans because the Jewish people were rebellious.

If Jesus is considered as a Roman - The Romans were destroyed by the Mongrels.

And if the Christians were the people of the prince - The disciples were all killed (I think they were all killed?), and the Christians were persecuted because of their faith.

"And unto the end of the war desolation’s are determined"

Which war? Could be between the Jews and the Romans. The Jewish people after being destroyed by the Romans, were to lose their homeland for nearly 2000 years, and have been persecuted since that time ("desolation’s are determined").

The war could be between Christians and the devil, since the world has not been a pleasant place since Jesus death – and won’t be until Jesus returns.

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

Because of verses 26 and 27, people have used the words "Prince" and "He" from those verses and interpreted that person to an evil King, a high priest, or antichrist. But I think it is Jesus. The word "He" in Daniel 9:27 refers to the "Messiah" in Daniel 9:26, because Daniel doesn't mention anyone else other than the Messiah (verse 25 & 26) and the Prince (verse 26) before verse 27. Well what is the covenant- Gods promise to his people that they will live in peace and harmony if they follow his 10 commandments (Ezekiel 37:25-28).

Israelites can not follow the 10 commandments- so Jesus dies for our sins, so our sins can be cleansed, he is our sacrificial lamb ,thus making a new covenant (Ezekiel 36:25-27, 37:24-27, Hebrews chapters 9 & 10 ) that the only way to God is through Jesus.

"He shall confirm the Covenant with many for one week"

Jesus confirms the covenant for one week (a week is seven years in Daniel's prophecy), meaning his mission was originally for seven years.

So Jesus has a seven year mission "He shall confirm the Covenant with many for one week"- telling of the true gospel and to fulfill Gods new covenant (Jeremiah 31:33 and in the New Testament).

"Midst of the week" and "cut off" from verse 26 have the same meaning. Jesus did not preach for 7 years. Historians have figured out that Jesus was approx. 29 years old when he first started his ministry, and 33 years old when he died, which is approx. 3.5 years. 3.5 years completed ("midst of the week") which leaves 3.5 years remaining.

"he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate".

Israelites can not follow the 10 commandments- so Jesus dies for our sins, so our sins can be cleansed, he is our sacrificial lamb ,thus making a new covenant (Ezekiel 36:25-27, 37:24-27, Hebrews chapters 9 & 10 ) that the only way to God is through Jesus.

But how can "the Prince", which is Jesus, be the one to make the Temple desolate.

His death makes all sacrifices (Hebrews 10:18 and 9:10) redundant, this is how he causes the sacrifices to cease, which makes the Land or Temple desolate - Temple was used for animal sacrifices to atone the sins of the people.

Jeremiah 10:25 - They made the land desolate by eating Jacob (Jacob, and also King David, were used as a symbol to represent Jesus, since Jesus came from those bloodlines (Mathew 1:), eating Jacob was symbolic to Christ's last supper remarks when the bread they were eating represented Jesus' body.

So there should be no more need of an "earthly" Temple after Jesus' crucifixion.

No new temple will be constructed that would have any meaning to God- since sacrifices are not needed after Jesus’ death. (Hebrews ch. 9 and 10).

There is a new Temple- but it is in Heaven and it will come down to earth (rev. 21, rev:11:19).

This phrase has been interpreted as an evil king will stop the sacrifices and set up his own idol in the temple, which causes the "abominations". But how can this king abominate the temple if he already destroyed the temple in the previous verse(26), or if this King does defile the Temple with his own idol, making it his own Temple, why would he want to destroy it.

People don't think the prince in verse in verse 26 is the same prince as in verse 25, which in verse 25 Daniel states that it is the Messiah, because they can't see how desolation and the destruction of the Temple could be caused by "the Messiah the Prince".

In my opinion, the overspreading abominations are not being caused by the person "he" in the above verse but by the Jewish people (as stated throughout the old testament and even by Jesus in the new testament), and it would be Jesus that would make the land desolate with his death. As verse 27 is worded, "he" causes the desolation's because there is "over spreading of abominations", not that "he" is causing the abominations.

So Jesus has a seven year mission (telling of the true gospel and to fulfill Gods new covenant (Jeremiah 31:33), 3.5 years completed (midst of the week), 3.5 years remaining.

In my opinion we are still waiting for the last half of Jesus' 7 year mission (3.5 years), which would mark the beginning of his second coming.

The remaining 3.5 years:

Mark 13:8-10, Mathew 24:4-14 - In new testament Jesus answers the question when will Gods Kingdom begin by saying that people will hear of wars, false prophets, etc., saying that these will always happen but the time of the end will be when the gospel will be preached throughout the whole world. The apostles were supposed to do that but they all since died - they thought they would see Jesus' second coming and Gods kingdom in their own life time.

We have all kinds of religions spreading the gospel throughout the world, but Gods Kingdom as Jesus our King has not yet come.

Jesus says that the true gospel has to be preached throughout the whole world, so how will that be done. We can find the answer in the book of Revelations.

Revelation chap. 11:2-14

for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. ³ And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days (3.5 years), clothed in sackcloth. ⁴ These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. ⁵ And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. ⁶ These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. ⁷ And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. ⁹ And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. ¹⁰ And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. ¹¹ And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. ¹² And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. ¹³ And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. ¹⁴ The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. ¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever

Revelation chap. 11 - These 2 Witnesses in revelation preach the gospel, prophesize, and have Godly powers.

When they have finished their "testimony" after 3.5 years (rev 11:3 + 11:7), they are killed by the beast from the bottomless pit, and after 3.5 days they will be raised from the dead and go to heaven.

Rev. 11:11-15 - When they are raised from the dead, a trumpet is blown ("angel sounded"), which marks the beginning of Gods Kingdom - Jesus returns as a King.

Jesus also says that a trumpet is blown when Gods Kingdom begins (Mathew 24:30-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. ³¹ And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other). This marks the end of the second half of the final 7 years of Daniel's prophecy, which finishes the 490 years of punishment.

Mathew 17:3 "And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, ² And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. ³ And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him."- The 2 witnesses could be Elijah and Moses, seen with Jesus on a hill.

There are similarities between Jesus and the 2 witnesses:

• Jesus is also referred to as a witness in Rev:3:14."And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God";
• Mathew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come" - Mathew also uses the word witness in that the Gospel will be preached throughout the whole world, and then the end shall come.
• Jews hated Jesus for his gospel - World hates the 2 witnesses for their gospel.
• Jesus preached for 3.5 years and was crucified for his words, and rose to heaven after 3.5 days (Mathew 17:22-23).
• 2 witnesses preach for 3.5 Years and will be killed, they also rise to heaven after 3.5 days (Rev. 11:7 + Rev11:11).

Israel had first hand contact and guidance from God, but they were given a stumbling block (Jeremiah 6:21 "Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish"). Stumbling blocks (Jesus) was so different than what their own rabbis taught them that they could not believe Jesus was their messiah, or even that he was sent by God".

What are the 2 witnesses saying that are so different than what we are taught or have come to believe, that we would actually hate what they are saying? People of the world actually rejoice in their death. Jesus foretold that the many would be fooled in the end times by the devil. (Mathew 24:11 "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many").

The Jews thought they were right until Jesus came along with his Gospel, and they hated him.

The world thought they were right until the two witnesses came with their solemn testimony, and are hated by the world. So we should watch and listen with an open mind when they do come.

2 witnesses are the final part of Jesus' covenant, which when finished will start the reign of God with Jesus as our King for a 1000 years (Rev20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years"), after which there will be a new Heaven and Earth (Rev 21:)

When will the two witnesses come?

Daniel 9:25 - Daniel prophesy is divided into 3 parts - 49 + 434 + 7=490 years.

Why does he separate the 49 and 434 years to signify "Messiah the Prince" time to come, so 483 years pass before Jesus starts his ministry, now there are only seven years left.

Jesus preaches for 3.5 years. Daniel prophecy is not yet completed when Jesus is cut off, so there are 3.5 years remaining.

It could have been 483 years from command to rebuild Jerusalem until Jesus came as the "Messiah the prince". It was in 444 or 455 BC that a declaration was made by the Jewish people to rebuild Jerusalem and Temple (from historic records), but it can not be for sure if that's the "command" Daniel was talking about. So if we take 455 or 444 and subtract that from the 483 years that Daniel prophecy’s, we get 28 to 39 AD, which would be near the time of Jesus death (nobody really knows the exact year of Jesus birth or death).

Since Jesus' death, the prophecy has stopped, not yet completed. We know it hasn't finished because Jesus died as in Daniels prophecy, but the "bringing in everlasting righteousness" in verse 9:24, has not happened yet.

It could of stopped so that time could be given for the gentiles to learn to love God, as stated in the new testament. But how long would that last for.

It could be that Daniels prophecy of punishment on Jerusalem could only continue if the Jewish people had control of Jerusalem again, which they did in 1967 in the 6 day war.

This is the first time the Jewish people were in control of Jerusalem since the Romans dispersed them in the first century.

This could be the reason Daniel separated the 49 and the 434 years.

If we added 49 to 1967 we get the year 2016, which could be the beginning of Jesus' second part of his mission, which is 3.5 years.

2016 could be the approx. time of the two witnesses’ "solemn testimony".

The 49 years is not further punishment on Israel, but a time marker to finish the last 3.5 years. So far, the 486.5 years of Daniel’s prophecy has been completed, and we are waiting for the last 3.5 years (490-486.5 = 3.5 years).
