BREEDING |
Bayley's first litter |
Breeding your puppy is NOT something that should be undertaken lightly. It can cost a lot of money, and it is VERY hard work. Firstly you have to ask yourself WHY do you want to breed. Just because you like puppies, or you think your Bitch should have a litter before she is spayed are DEFINATELY NOT good reasons. There are a lot of puppies out in the world that are unwanted, and you don't want to add to that list. Breeding is a very serious business, and should only be done for the right reasons by a registered breeder. You should talk to your local Dalmatian Association before you contemplate breeding, and they will give you all the appropriate information needed. Please, if you are going to breed, make sure your Bitch is registered with the Canine Control Council, and the Stud you use is also registered. All your puppies must be registered, and sold with papers. It is always adviseable to have buyers for your puppies BEFORE you breed your Bitch. Your Bitch will need to have all her shots up to date, and have a health check before you put her to stud, and you need to talk to your Vet and tell him that you are planning to breed your Bitch. Breeding is a very serious business as I have mentioned. Your puppies will need a lot of care, from you, AND your vet. Remember your Bitch can have up to 12 puppies. They all need to be fed, wormed, vaccinated, deflea'd, Vet checked, and of course registered, and it is a very messy job as well. All this takes up most of your time and money. You really need to be dedicated to be a breeder |
