Evan's Dream of Jina in Heaven

Evan was Jina's "big" brother, not even two years older than Jina. These two were as close as a brother and sister could be. Evan called Jina "Baby Sister," and always took good care of her. They played together and were "best friends." One of Jina's daddy's favorite memories of them is at the airstrip where Tim kept his small plane. They had a tricycle there and Evan would always "pilot" it with little Jina standing on the back. He pedaled furiously and Tim's memory is of the two of them laughing with glee while Jina's long hair flew in the breeze.

Evan's love for his Baby Sister will never die. It will go on ALWAYS.
Little Jina will be there in his heart and soul ... ALWAYS

Always
Words and music by Irving Berlin

I'll be loving you ...always.
With a love that's true...always.

When the things you've planned
need a helping hand
I will understand..always...always.

Days may not be fair...always.
That's when I'll be there...always.
Not for just an hour, not for just a day,
Not for just a year but...always.

This picture of Jina was taken at the 1999 "Relay for Life" in Quitman, Mississippi.
Jina was the "Chairperson" that year.

This is a beautiful and loving gift for Angel Jina from my dear friend, Carol, mom to Angel Michael.

Jina lost her battle with neuroblastoma cancer at the tender age of three. She was an incredible child who made a big impact on her world. Her brother, Evan, was only four when Jina died and he was devastated. His grief went far beyond the comprehension of most children his age. He wept endlessly and talked about her constantly. He begged God to give his baby sister back to him. Evan deeply loved his little sister with a love that knows no end. Always and forever, she will be in his heart and fond memories. I think a merciful God gave Evan a very special trip to heaven to see his little sister. Evan had a "dream" that was far more than most dreams. He had this remarkable dream a few months later. Here's the story...it speaks for itself. Evan’s father, Tim, writes the letter to his online support group from St. Jude’s Children's Hospital. Tim has tried to use Evan's identical words. The dream is stunning. Keep in mind that this dream is being shared by a four-year old child!

With much love to my nephew, Tim, and his family,

Hello friends…
It's been a while, and we are still hanging in there. Good days and bad days. Things are beginning to take on some sort of sanity at the Davis household. I would like for everyone to read the rest of this and keep an open mind. OK?

You know, the Lord uses various methods to communicate with us. I believe he picks the way that will work the best with each of us as individuals. I believe this is what happened a week or so ago with our son, Evan.

Big Boy (Evan) got up a few mornings ago and told his Mom that "Boy, I am sleepy and tired, because I was gone all night." Of course, Regina knew that he was in his bed all night, (?) so she asked him what in this world he was talking about. I will quote as much as memory allows, so forgive the syntax errors.

EVAN'S DREAM OF JINA IN HEAVEN

"Mommy, when I went to bed last night, I turned into some sort of airplane, except there was nobody inside me, and I flew up through the house and outside in the sky and flew up and up and up, way up in the sky, all the way to Heaven. The light was so bright there it got into your eyes, but it didn't hurt. Jesus was there waiting for me, and I turned back into me. He was a real big man. He told me that there was someone here who wanted to see me. There were lots of houses there, and I looked and looked for my baby sister, Jina. And, I looked and looked, and I finally found her in a house playing with some toys. She saw me and we hugged and hugged and kissed and kissed for a long time. You know, Mommy, she has her long hair now, and it is curly. (It was straight, but when Jina lost her hair, she would say that when it grew back, it would be curly like her big brother's.) We had fun and played for a real long time, but I started turning back into an airplane again, and I started crying because I did not want to leave. But, Jesus came back to me and told me not to cry because it would be OK, and that me and Jina and my family would be together here very soon. You know, Mommy, Jesus is real nice. You would like it in Heaven, Mommy; everything is real clean. I started flying back and flew all the way back to my bed, and it was morning."

Needless to say, Regina and Nan (Regina’s mother) were blown away. How great it was for Evan to be allowed to "dream" such a wonderful vision and see his baby sister Jina again. Oh God, how I wish I would dream about Jina, to see her, feel her, hear her, smell her, what a wonderful blessing that would be. How I miss my Little Princess.

Regina told me that Evan didn't play very hard that day, and that afternoon, he took a TWO hour nap. He stopped taking naps months ago. Could it have been all of that playing he and Jina did?

It seemed to help Evan and I believe that he understands better where Jina is now. Like I said, God speaks to us in different ways, and it is up to us to listen. Please listen, my friends. I know many who read this will think ... "it's only a 4-year old's dream...." But, maybe, just maybe, it wasn't a dream at all. Maybe there's a message there for all of us to heed and spread. You know the part about what that "nice Man" said... "me and Jina and my family would be together very soon?" What do you think that means? How far off could "very soon" be to a 4-year old? You know there is one thing that God cannot do, and that is to go back on His word.

We will see...maybe a dream... maybe something else.

Thank you for being there for me, and I hope this makes everyone who reads this
think about their life and future.

P. S. Evan later added a few more details to his dream. He said Jina was wearing
a pale yellow dress; and he said that there were big, fluffy "pillows" in Heaven.
We took these to mean "clouds."

He also said that he saw angels and they carried big swords
that “shined like they were on fire.”

Now an ANGEL that Shines IN HEAVEN ALWAYS

Because My Little Sister Has Gone Up High
by Alison for Emily (2/98)

Angels are little girls that have gone above
Especially Emily the one that I love
Sometimes I really cry and cry
Because my little sister has gone up high
I smile to see her picture upon the wall
She is my guardian angel when I slip and fall
No matter what you look like
No matter what you do
You'll always be my sister
My one and only you

This poem was written to Emily Shenae Graham 8/28/95
from her big sister Alison
Thank you for allowing Evan to borrow it for "his" page for his sister Jina!
