The coming of the railway, the development of the New Town, Dollar churches, ministers, shops, schools, teachers, provosts, local myths and legends, mansion houses, land ownership, mills, bleachworks, bowling clubs, golf clubs and many other topics are covered with a wealth of maps and photographs.
