Well I sure disappeared now didn't I??? A bad machine plus a promotion at work into management can really cut into a guy's web mastering time!
However I digress. because there is a word that keeps bouncing around my head, and it's RESPONSIBILITY.
Like the caps on that one?? I do. Because it's a big word. RESPONSIBILITY is what makes most normal people behave in whatever fashion they behave in. It's what makes people go to work the morning after a 12 beer 4 shot bender on a thursday night.
It's what makes you buy a toy for your child, or your friends child instead of getting that new shirt or pair of pants you need for work.
But I am beginning to think it's also a shield you can hide behind when faced with a difficult decision or tough situation. A little soul searching and a lot of temporary madness has led me to this belief. At least I think it is a belief. Maybe the foundation of my belief system is crumbling. Or maybe I ate a bad burrito. Either is valid honestly.
When you use your RESPONSIBILITIES to avoid some difficult decisions, I am beginning to think, it lessens those RESPONSIBILITIES. Because you are no longer doing them because they need to be done. It 's no longer a selfless act. It has become a selfish act. You do it for yourself and the ancillary benefit is that it happens to coincide with benefitting someone else. That is chickenshit and a mark of someone with problems.
The thing is............I wonder if that applies to me????
Prolbably not. It's just the burrito talking.
