| Following the fantastic win against Glasgow Rangers in the UEFA Cup last night, the team now turn their attention to Monday nights game against Sporting, at the José de Alvalade stadium, the venue for this seasons UEFA Cup final.
The 1-0 win over the Scots will have certainly boosted morale and motivated the team for this big game against the Lions. Manager Mariano Barreto has a number of unavailable players for the trip to Lisboa including Eusébio, Rodrigăo and Zeca, who are all out due to injuries. Barreto has called upon central defender Rui Marques, a summer signing from Stuttgart, and Marítimo B team striker Ronaldo. The Brazilian striker last played in the first team at the end of the 2002/2003 season, when Anatoly Byshovets was manager. Playing in 5 games that season, Ronaldo scored one goal in the last home fixture, a 3-1 win against Moreirense. The full list of selected players is: Goalkeepers: Marcos, Nélson. Defenders: Ferreira, Tonel, Evaldo, Fernando, Briguel, Mitchell, Rui Marques. Midfielders: Silas, Bino, Chaínho, Węnio, Joel Santos, Luís Filipe, Manduca, Léo Lima.
