| Known simply as 'Briguel' - a homage to the former rock-hard German defender Hans Peter Brigeul (Note the slightly different spelling) - the local boy from Madeira has spent his entire career to date in the green and red of Marítimo. The former Portuguese Under 21 international, made his breakthrough in the Marítimo first team in the 2000/01 season, against Boavista, and for many seasons since, has competed with veteran Albertino to be the first choice right back. Following Albertino's departure this summer, the versatile Briguel may well have claimed the position his own. |
