Ice Cold - chapter 2

‘So she got shot?’
‘Yeah but the question is, was she already in the pool when she got shot, or was she shot before hitting the water’
‘Lets search the area and see what we can find’
‘I think I might have found something’
‘Looks a bit sticky, swab it and get it to trace’
‘Alright Mr. Wolfe’
‘Please call me Ryan’
‘Ok Ryan’
‘I still think It’s a bit odd that we have not found any trace of blood or a shooting’
‘I know what you mean, the place looks like it there has not even been a crime here’
‘I think it means that the real crimescene is not here, but somewhere else’
‘Lets get back to the lab and look at the evidence, we better get to Alexx in the morgue first, to see if we can find anything else about our victim’

‘So Alexx have you got the cause of death yet?’
‘The girl didn’t die of drowning, which I said’
‘What did she die of’
‘Gunshot wound, this shot went right through the heart.’
‘Sounds like a crime of passions’
‘Yes, the gunshot wound caused an immediate heart failure. She was gone within seconds, the poor baby also lost a lot of blood’
‘We didn’t find any blood at the crimescene’
‘She didn’t die there. If I look at the body and the water temperature, she had only been in the water for not more then one hour, but the time of death must have been a couple of hours before that. I also found this on her hands’ Alex said while handing Ryan a glass pot.
‘It looks like the same sticky substance we found at the scene’
‘I also recovered one of the bullets. This one was from the shot in the stomach. The other one went right through, so the bullet is still somewhere out there.’
‘Thank you, I will see if Calleigh can determine the type of gun it came from’
‘Was there anything else you can tell us Alexx?’
‘Not really, I have got al her clothes in those bags over there, and also her fingerprints. Maybe you two can find out who our victim is’
‘Thank you, see you later’

‘Hey Calleigh, this is Jessica’
‘Well hello Jessica, I am Calleigh, nice to meet you’
‘Nice to meet you to’
‘Calleigh can you take a look at this bullet for us, it was recovered from our victim’
‘It looks like a ’38, but I will have to check to make sure. I will get back to you once I know it for sure.’
‘Thanks Calleigh’
‘You’re welcome’

‘Ah Mr. Wolfe, how are things going with the case. I see you have met Jessica’
‘Yes, I have, nice girl, so she is your niece’
‘She is indeed’
‘But she is not Rays daughter, how come she is your niece’
‘Mr. Wolfe there is another time and place to explain all that. I am sure that Jess will tell you if she wants. But right now, lets get back to the case’
‘Well we….’
‘Horatio’ Jessica said while walking towards them.
‘Hello Jessica, are you ok?’
‘Yes I am fine thanks’
‘Mr. Wolfe was just explaining how far you got in the case’
‘Yes, where was I. The victim died of a gunshot wound to the chest. It went right through the heart. She died before hitting the water’
‘Any idea what the type of gun it was’
‘No not yet, Calleigh is still….’
‘Actually Calleigh just got back to me. She was right. The gun used was a ‘38’
‘Has the victim got a name yet?’
‘Not yet, her fingerprints didn’t match anything in codis. We did find a sticky substance from her hair. Dan is checking it now to see what it is’
‘There were no bullets found at the scene’
‘But you just said the gunshot went right through the heart. So the bullet is still out there. You two know what that means’
