Entering the classroom:
1. Come straight to class from your previous class (or lunch).
2. Turn in your homework in the appropriate box.
3. Have all your materials with you every day.
4. Sharpen pencils, test pens, and make sure you have paper.
5. Be in you are seat with all these things done before the tardy bell rings.
6. When the bell rings, class will begin.
7. You are tardy if you have not completed these things when the bell rings.

Leaving the classroom:
1. Five minutes before the bell rings, look around you to make sure there is no trash left in the floor, on your desk, or any other place.
2. Make sure you have all of your belongings.  Left items will be turned in to lost and found.
3. Make sure you have written down any homework assignments.

Fire Drills:
We will follow the fire drill instructions set down by the school in the handbook.

Visitors:
1. Most guests in our classroom, unfortunately, have not come to see students.  If the person is in the room to talk to me, observe me, or for any other reason, please ignore that person.
2. If a guest comes in to talk to a student, wait until I call for that student before approaching the guest.
3. Treat all guests with the same respect you give me, and I give you.

Substitutes:

1. A "substitute teacher" is a person who comes into the classroom to hold the place of the teacher who is not able to be in class.  The key word is "teacher."  Substitutes have all the same powers as teachers.  They can discipline: assign detentions, send students to the office, etc.  Substitutes deserve all the respect you give the regular teacher.  They are not to be harrassed or tricked.  I leave all of my substitutes a copy of the rules and procedures, and most of them already know the handbook policies.  This is your warning.
2. Any misbehavior turned in to me by a substitute will be upgraded on the discipline offense scale, meaning if it is your first offense, you will receive the second offense punishment, etc.
3. We work hard to build an environment of trust and respect.  I will not tolerate that system breaking down just because I am not in the room, just as you would not tolerate anyone disrespecting you just because you go to a different town/school/place of business.
