DESCRIPTION:
With fewer than two dozen residents, the small town of Cryer's Valley is nestled in a peaceful valley in Upstate New York - with its nearest neighboring town being approximately two hours away. Despite its small population, the town boasts several fine establishments, such as the popular Valley Lodge, Joneson's barber shop, and the Vonneguths' funeral parlor.
Cryer's Valley boasts a long, fascinating history. One account even dates its founding back to the Civil War. Today, Cryer's Valley is home to people from all walks of life. It is situated in a quiet, deserted area, and is a lovely spot to vacation or to just escape from everyday reality. Cryer's Valley is an ideal place for a person to get (or pass) away.
SYNOPSIS:

He's dangerous. He's deadly. He's your
neighbor.
It was a town that most people had never heard of, but
when the notorious criminal known as "the Janus" made Cryer's Valley his
next stop, he also made headlines. Besides leaving a trail of
fresh bodies behind, he visited long enough to rattle old skeletons in
the closet as well. Secrets enveloped the entire town. It was these secrets
behind which the residents hid that made it possible for the murderer
-Mark "the Janus" Matei to remain undetected, under an assumed identity.
Until each resident's own secreted truths were unveiled, curious characters
enabled the truly guilty to enjoy the same freedom and graces as the
innocent. Suspicions of infidelity, insanity and intentional accidents
abounded; leaving one wondering what crimes "the Janus" had or had not
committed.
Like the mythical two-headed creature for which "the
Janus" was named, every story had two sides and nothing was, as it seemed in
Cryer's Valley.
Jaclyn Lurker has chronicled these events in her mystery novel Cryer's Valley. Visit the links below to read more about this fictional town and her work.
