Car Robots

God Magnus

This toy is from the most recent Transformer line in Japan. The series is called Car Robots, roughly. This figure is called God Magnus and has only two different modes. However, this figure can combine with Fire Convoy to form God Fire Convoy a truly marvelous figure. The original figure is neat but I really only bought him to form God Fire Convoy. The robot mode is very awkward looking more so than any other figure I have. The reason I say he is awkward is because of the way he fits together in robot mode, by fitting in various grooves. And I realized the reason why he's always drawn or shown from the bottom up, because he has an enormous gap under his head! But it still looks nice and i wish they used the same hands for Super Fire Convoy. In vehicle mode GM is really nice, he actually fits some of the smaller cars in the series. This is one of the best vehicle's in the series. Now the best part God Fire Convoy. This is a combination of GM and FC. It took me a while to put this guy together but once I did it is truly one of the best transformers I have ever seen. Standing slightly taller than SFC would, GFC dominates! The only real problem with this figure Is he becomes top heavy and the waist articulation is lacking. However, I simply added the feet of SFC (they look like missile launchers too!) to the feet and that did a nice balancing act for the figure. I highly reccomend you get GM, especially if you have SFC.

Car Robots

Super Fire Convoy

This toy is from the most recent Transformer line in Japan. The series is called Car Robots, roughly, and as you can guess goes back to the old style transformers. Not only are the toys going back to the originals but the symbols as well. Yes the Cybertrons (Autobots) have the old red symbol again and the Destrongers (or Destrons, Decepticons) have the purple symbol. This toy is the leader of the new Cybertrons, his name is Fire Convoy. He has three different modes for transforming him: Fire Truck, Fire Convoy & Base (or peripherals for Fire Convoy), and Super Fire Convoy. In the fire truck mode Fire Convoy can be a bit unstable. The reason for this, is because his trailer is made up of add-ons to form Super Fire Convoy or the base. In robot form for Fire Convoy the figure is very nice and presentable. He has very detailed body, very good likeness from the show. The base is nothing spectacular, but can be added to Fire Convoy for some neat poses. The last mode, Super Fire Convoy, is nothing to laugh at. Standing almost a 12 inches tall, SFC is huge and has limited articulation, but surprising posing ability. (Just don't look at him from the side). SFC even has a Cybertron symbol that lifts up to reveal a water cannon.  With all pieces in place SFC is one of the best looking figures I've ever seen. Overall SFC is one of the best toys I've seen.

Beast Wars Neo

Big Convoy

Coming from the Beast Wars Neo line in Japan this figure is one of the best I've seen. Why do the Japanese get all these cool toys and we get the shaft? Well anyway, this figure has something most transformers have never had....an accessory besides missiles and guns. Not only does Big Convoy have an accessory, but he has THE accessory, his very own Matrix. Yes that's right a matrix, complete with chest compartment to store it in. I'm not familiar too much with the BWNeo story but I know Unicron is a key character with his minions trying to restore him, so therefore the matrix. BC, like the all the Beast Wars series, transforms into an animal, a wooly mammoth, not pictured. This figure has the basic two modes, beast and robot. In his beast mode BC looks nice...from a distance. His transforming consists of a bunch of tiles that form the wooly mammoth around his body folded in half. I like the figure but it seems like they cheated on this one by simply having the beast mode form like a puzzle. However the figure does look complete in beast form unlike other toys in the Beast Wars series.  In robot mode BC is very nice, standing about 7-8 inches tall with a lot of articulation for any pose you can think of. You can even pose BC with the matrix in both hands as if to open it. BC's gun, in the picture, is very big and if not done right would make him topple making the figure very frustrating at times. Overall BC ranks with the best of them, he's not a SFC but he does have a matrix!

Beast Wars II

(Flash) LioConvoy

This figure hails from the Beast Wars II line in Japan, actually the BWII Movie Toy's 'R Us exclusive. While I've actually seen this show, and the movie where the figure is from the toy suffers. In the BWII Movie, LioConvoy becomes Flash LioConvoy with Convoy (Optimus Primal) from the Beast Wars series, who becomes Burning Convoy, to defeat Mazin Zarak. Basically Flash LioConvoy is a re-colored LioConvoy. Instead of red, white and yellow. He is glittery-gold, clear and gray. This figure also has the basic 2 modes, beast and robot and neither are that impressive. In beast mode FLC is a lion, while looking somewhat nice the figure suffers from too much 'machinery' showing.  FLC is a nightmare to make it stand, pose or do anything really. FLC robot mode looks...well awkward. The torso is very big, leaving small legs to support the toy for standing. Overall FLC is a nice toy, but nothing to brag about.
