September 11, 2001 ~ The day the nation
  cried.

Thoughts for strength,
love and freedom!

We as a nation are stunned and shocked, outraged and in fear. We mourn for those already known and those remaining to be found. We weep for their families and for those rescue workers who died trying to save lives. We will weep forever more.

The Day the Towers Crumbled

By  Doc

It began as any other day

Clear and bright no one thought

Things would go this way

The planes came down

And crashed right through

The towers stood firm

But many blasts blew

People are dying and buildings crumble

"How could this happen?" Everyone says

We're the bright, beautiful

U.S. of A.

The buildings come tumbling

The fires burn with fury

People are in hysterics

Who has chosen to be our jury?

We know we aren't liked

And many envy

But why must this happen

This horror, this tragedy

The disaster has happened

Our great buildings are now gone

Hard to think only a year ago

Before them I stood

God bless the families

The hurt and the dead

Bring them to you and

Lay your healing hand

Now lets stand together, the

Strong and the weak

Let's show them that no matter

How hard they hit us,

They'll never get us down

Through A Child's Eyes

By crazyevildru

"Why are you here?" She asked me, as I stood there near tears, ready to take her home. Ready to embrace her and thank the goddess that she was alive and in my arms. Ready to forgive all she'd done and times she'd lied. "Because of the crash?"

"Yes. Because of the crash." I replied as we walked to the car.

She doesn't comprehend how far reaching the crash was or why. She doesn't understand that as the tower fell, thousands died. She doesn't know that people were widowed and left childless. People lost their best friends and lovers. People lost their grandparents and boyfriends and brothers. *We* lost brothers and sisters, lovers and friends, parents and grandparents. And we will never be the same.

Luckily, she won't understand this for years to come, when she learns of the crash in social studies class. When there are definite numbers of how many who died and there's a monument at the site of senseless murders.

            And for what?

Perhaps the books she reads in high school will give her the answers we're desperately seeking. Perhaps those books will somehow make it right. Perhaps those books will provide her some comfort we crave.

But for her, it's a crash.

For us, it's devastation. Complete. Utter. And never-ending.

The Test
By Jesca

As I lay me down to rest,
I pray my country will pass its test.
For today with billowing smoke
A cowardly few try to make us a joke.

While twin sisters tumble and fall
America rises up to answer the call.
We will not tremble, we will not hide
We will unite with trust and pride.

While Earth's lowest play with lives
Taking husbands from their brides,
Making widows and orphans survive
With their loved ones they're deprived

America will stand tall and true
We will live through what they put us through.
We will stand proud we will stand tight
All as one we will unite.

Our test is simple in its plan
We must hold tightly to God's hand
Let his power flow to us
Lets not fail him in our trust

Instead of striking in blinded rage
God help us to see clear through the haze
And when we strike to foil our foes
Let us strike true to mirror the blows.

But if in rage we fire at will
I pray that innocents we do not kill.
I pray that God will see us through
And in the end our spirit is true.

For as terrible the sight of the sister's fall
We cannot let is blind us all.
When America's soul is at rest,
I pray our hearts have passed the test.
