Tommy Turkey
My name is Tommy Turkey
you say I'm a healthy food.
All this talk is out of hand
I think it's mighty rude.

First you eat us on Thanksgiving
and now on Christmas, too.
I'm running out of relatives
I don't know what to do.

Who started all this turkey talk?
How'd it get this way?
You oughta try a cow
I hear they're fortified with hay.

They say vegetables are healthy
they fit nicely on your fork.
Maybe next year for Thanksgiving
you might try out some pork?

We Gather Together

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to His name: He forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine.
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

The Turkey Shot Out of The Oven
by Jack Prelutsky

The turkey shot out of the oven
and rocketed into the air,
it knocked every plate off the table
and partly demolished a chair.

It ricocheted into a corner
and burst with a deafening boom,
then splattered all over the kitchen,
completely obscuring the room.

It stuck to the walls and the windows,
it totally coated the floor,
there was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there'd never been turkey before.

It blanketed every appliance,
it smeared every saucer and bowl,
there wasn't a way I could stop it,
that turkey was out of control.

I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure,
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
that I'd never again stuff a turkey
with popcorn that hadn't been popped.

Fireside Coffee

On an eve' of winters darkness,
A breezy, chilly night,
Just light a fire within your home,
To make the evening bright.

Gather 'round your loved ones,
For stories you will share.
Of tales when you were young,
Dreams, hopes, your loving teddy bear.

Perhaps you'd like a challenge,
To sit down with a game.
You could spend an evening,
That's never quite the same.

If you are alone,
With the crackling of your fire,
Just grab a book to read,
before your night's retire.

No matter what you do,
No matter who you're with - you see,
the eve will be more special,
Sipping steamy fireside coffee.
