Ever since returning to the ring a few months ago Robert Royal has been on a mission to prove alot of critics wrong. So far he has done so with a 2-0 lead in the Best of 7 Series with Chino "Razor" Martinez in his quest to become the NWA Virginia Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Royal has never held championship gold in his 6 year career. Royal also has the dnagerous and very smart "Manager of Champion's" Neil Sharkey to guide him along the way to the gold. Sharkey has managed every person to a title in his career, can he do so with Royal?? Is this the beginning of Royal's quest, lifelong dream, to the NWA World Jr. Title??? Time will tell!!!
Also Royal has been making headlines in the Global Wrestling Alliance under Sharkey's tuteledge. Will Royal win gold in the GWA??? Who is he after there???? What are his plans being in the GWA????? We will just have to wait and see. All we do know is Royal has been working out pretty hard lately in his hometown of Myrtle Beach,SC and has told us here that it is now his time to take over anywhere he goes and he will do whatever it takes to get to where he wants. And for once in my life, I actually believe him. He has been through 3 surgeries during his 6 year career (1 shoulder and 2 knees) so he has had to sit back while others have come and gone to higher ground.
To answer alot of questions on Royal as of late pertaining to Virginia Championship Wrestling...Yes Royal will be returning but he will not tell us when and what he will do when he gets back there. He said he likes to keep guessing on what he will do next. He is aware of some of the changes in VCW as of late and he is ready to make some changes of his own. So go out to the VCW shows to see if good ol RR will make his return soon or later.
As of late negotiations have been going on between Royal and North Carolina indy Danger Zone Wrestling for Royal to come back there in 2003. Royal has not faired well in his first 2 shows there bneing eliminated early in battle royals both times. Royal does have his eyes set on the DZW Bruiserweight Title and will fight any type of match to get his hands on that gold. Will Royal end up bringing in Neil Sharkey to get to the gold or will he go it alone??? Stay tuned for further developments.
