Summer / Autumn Schedule ~ 1998

August 1-2...... Deerfield River Festival...................

River festival is sponsored by A.W.A./ ZOAR. Live music, bbq,

vendors, raft races, whitewater rodeo, and river trips for all skill levels. MA

Camping available or can be done as a day trip (Sat or Sun).

 

August 7-9......Delaware River...................................

There are a variety of day trips from base camp in the Delaware Water Gap.

 

August 23.. Parker River.................................

North shore paddle near Plum Island. Great bird watching. MA

 

August 30 Herring Brook/ North River.........

Short paddle out to the Sand Spit in Scituate, MA. A beach day of

swimming, bocci, bbq, and games til the tide turns and reclaims our beach.

 

Sept 4-7 Dead River..................................

Camp at Cathedral Pines in Eustis, Maine

 

September 12 Concord River..................................

"Grandparents’ Day" paddle. Bring the grandchildren for a paddle to the

Olde North Bridge National Park and Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge, MA.

Start an annual tradition! Better than any Hallmark card!

 

September 20 Contoocook River..............................

Enjoy the day in southern N.H, Peterboro, "Our Town". Camping is

available at State Park, if you want to spend the weekend.

Sept. 25-27..... West River......................................

Camp at Jamaica State Park, Vermont. We offer a variety of trips on

this river or watch the fun at the ‘Dumplings’ or ‘Little Colorado rapids.

October 3 .... Moonlight Paddle ..........................

Paddle on the Charles River to Rocky Narrows. Enjoy a campfire, dinner,

and Wampie lies! Bring firewood and a lantern. MA

 

Oct. 9-12 Connecticut River ............................

Columbus Day Weekend club favorite. Lot’s to do and places to go.

Camping at Willgus State Park, Ascutney, Vt.

October 18 Charles River……………………..

Put in at the South Natick Dam, MA.

October 25 Sudbury River ..........................

Enjoy the magnificent New England Autumn foliage on this classic

pastoral river with expansive vistas. MA

 

October 31.. Ipswich River ..................................

Halloween paddle with a stop in Salem, MA for the Witches’ Parade.

Costumes/ painted faces are encouraged and feel free to bring Trick or Treats!

 

November 14 Annual Dinner and Yankee Swap

This event is held in Scituate. Social hour 5:30-6:30PM followed by dinner. Please bring an appetizer, breads, or desert. To participate in the Yankee Swap, bring a wrapped item that has something to do with paddling or camping (used equipment, books, games, food,etc.)

 

December 12 Nomination Committee Meeting

All past presidents are invited & encouraged to attend; 4 P.M.

 

January 30, 1999 Election of Officers, Awards and Pot Luck Dinner

Fun night to review the highlights of the year’s trips and enjoy dinner with a great group of paddlers! Bring a casserole, salad & bread, or desert & munchies.

We will also plan the Spring Schedule so bring or call us with your suggestions.

 

Winter Paddling .... There are many beautiful winter day when you might like to come

out to play! If you get the urge, call Walter Zaremba 781-544-3122

To join us on a trip, contact the trip leader by mid-week of a day trip and call now if you are interested in a camping trip that will require reservations. Day trips usually start at 10 with a stop along the way for lunch. You must have your own paddling/camping equipment, life jackets (which must be worn by law Sept.-May and by children at all times), ropes tied to both ends of your boat and a spare paddle.
